I really shouldn’t, and the wife will probably kill me because I’ve bought and sold more boats over my lifetime than any sane person should. I did at least make money on all but one. ANYWAY…I’m thinking of buying me an aluminum fishing boat. Something in the 17’-18’ range, Basstracker, Lowe, Alumicraft, etc…minimum of a 75hp, up to a 115hp. I’m not looking to buy junk, worn out, or a project. I’m also not wanting something 20-30 years old. I’ll just buy new before I entertain any of that. With those parameters, does anyone have a lead on anything?

If I buy new, I’ll probably buy a Basstracker as I’ll crappie fish more than anything so I’ll spend up to $25k on the model they have that I like, so that’s the top end.

Just about any aluminum boat made today is going to be solid and hold their value. I'd add Xpress and Crestliner to your list. A 115hp on an 18" aluminum boat is awesome.

Well…as expected, that conversation with the wife went over about like a turd in the punch bowl. Time to dig in my heels. I’ve never missed out on one yet that I wanted bad enough. Just have to find the right one now.

Just have to find the right one now. That's when you do what I did with both boats I bought. 1st one, Stratos 201 Pro Elite, she got home from work to find a boat in the backyard. She asked me who's boat it was. Told her it was ours and she didn't say another word. 2nd one, Nitro 170TF, I found it online over in Gulfport MS. I asked her one day if she wanted to ride over to the "boats". She got up and got ready and we left. When I went past the casino exit in Biloxi she asked me where we were going. Told her we were going to the boats. Got to the marina that had the boat and she gave me a dirty look and I said "What? We're at the boats." Test drove the boat, paid the man the $ and hooked up to it and left...I even stopped off at the casinos just to appease her. Now she's wanting me to get another boat

Now she's wanting me to get another boat That’s pretty much how all my other ones have gone. The only new one I ever bought was bought from Airport Marine. I asked her if she wanted to go look and she said sure. We walked in and three people called me by name. She looked at me and said, “I’m guessing this isn’t your first time here.” Bought one that day.

Don’t buy until you try out a center console. I won’t go back to a bass boat layout.

IF you can find a used Lund, that's what I would buy. Love mine. I lucked out when I found one for sale in Huntsville two years ago. Lund or Lowe is the only boat I'd want if I had my pick! Hands down. Can't beat the space, comfort.
