You do realize Paul came along about 35yrs after Jesus left right? 35yrs.where exactly in the bible is that last part you were talking about? Some of yall act like you dont believe in having a relationship with God at all As if you cannot hear from the Lord, except reading the bible. In other words, youre leaving out the spirit. His spirit lives inside of us, but we can only be with him by reading the bible? Thats just odd. Ummm… you need to check your math. Jesus died around AD 32/33 and Paul died around AD 68. No one has claimed we shouldn’t have a relationship with God or that we don’t have the Spirit in dwelling us. However, having the Spirit indwelling us and Him speaking to us is two different things. Questions for you… what would the Spirit reveal to you in a personal manner that hasn’t been revealed in His word? If you claim there’s more to be revealed, then how would that square with 2 Timothy 3:16-17?

Bamarich, God has spoken directly to me in an audible voice several times. I have had visions and dreamed dreamed i am 100% certain came from God. I have received instructions especially and only for me directly from God. I have asked God for something and immediately it was granted multiple times. I have a hard time articulating exactly the relationship i have with the Lord. But i promise you its a little deeper than what most in this thread are talking about. You can read the bible all day every day and never KNOW the Lord. According to the bible you can walk with the Lord and never have seen a bible. People can say whatever they want about things being "different now", mostly because theyve never experienced what they are saying dont happen any more, but you cant show me in the bible where it says God wont reveal himself directly to people any more. Jesus says we will be able to do miracles. He never, later on, says "thats over now". Reckon why it is you never see people doing miracles? I would say its a lack of faith. Maybe because most "christians" believe all there is left of God is a book telling about him. That is absolutely absurd and against everything the bible teaches. A real relationship with God is available right now to anyone who wants it. The bottom line is, most people dont want that, its much easier to just read the book. My friend... we'll have to disagree. 1 Corinthians 13:8ff and Ephesians 4:11ff both foretold the time would come when the miraculous gifts of the first century would end - and in both of the passages the time frame was when the church became mature. If you can show me today people who are raising people from the dead, laying hands on someone and them being legitimately cured from disease, etc. I will gladly come to your view on things. But the fact is those things aren't happening today in the way they did in bible times. I have no doubt you have experienced these things... but to attribute them to God with certainty? God says He can send people "strong delusions" (2 Thessalonians 2:9ff)... how do you know that what you've experienced isn't that or something from Satan. Before you say "I KNOW" because my heart says so, you might read Jeremiah 17:9, Proverbs 28:26, and Proverbs 14:12. I mention these things because of the other readers of this thread... because what the bible says doesn't seem to matter much to you. Evidently, you've come to believe that when people follow the book that they don't have a relationship with God. That's a very DIM view of Scripture. The God you say speaks to you HAS spoken to you through His word - and when you say people don't need the bible's teachings to have a relationship with God you totally make passages like 2 Timothy 3:16-17 void and null. If we can't agree about the primacy of Scripture, there's no need for further exchange.

The very same thing has happened in my life. Most of my answers come when i say a prayer. Dear God please send me a sign of what you want me to do. It has been answered every time! Youre not delusional. Dont let anybody tell you that.
