Bought one one on a whim. How good is the glass?

How would you rate it vs the conquest or say a VX R?

I was kind of expecting it to outclass those by a hair. Can’t wait to get it and try it out.

I'd buy a Meopta over a Zeiss all day, every day.

It will outclass a VX5Hd as well. In the last month I’ve bought both and hunted with both. Meostar hands down on low light performance.

So my question is how much better is the $1200 Meostar than the $450 Meosport?

I am probably going to buy one of the MeoSport scopes simply because it is a scope with a lot of features for that price point. It is going to be a line up below the Meostar so although I expect them to be great scopes, they aren't going to be in the class with the R1's or R2's. They can't be for the $449.99 pricing.

I have owned Meopta, Zeiss, Kahles, Swarovski, Leupold, Nikon, and Bushnell scopes. The Meopta Meostar R1 scopes are the absolute best I have ever owned. I've had the R2 but I didn't like it as well as the R1's.

Meopta makes a fine product and I'm sure hoping this new MeoSport is awesome for what they are going to cost.

R1 is above the 2 you listed. Not even close to me.

The R1 will smoke the VXR for sure and certain. VXR glass is actually between VX2 and VX3 glass.

The R1 should be noticeably better than the conquest also.

Since there aren’t any Meosports out yet except for one or two given to writers, it’s kinda tough to answer your question.

Also, “better” as in how?

The glass on the Meosport is Optika5 glass, which is a tier under Meopro glass, which is a tier under Meostar glass.

I’ve never looked through an Optika5 glass so I don’t know how far behind Optika5 glass is from Meopro glass.

Meosport has more features than most Meostars and cost about a 1/3 of the price. One has to assume corners are cut somewhere and it’s most likely glass quality.

I just finished a Red Deer Hind hunt with my son using the MeoSport R 3-15x50 RD. We put 60 rounds of .300 WM under it prior to heading out. Zero issues at the range or in the field. The range day was a warm 77 deg day, the hunt was windchills in the single digits. My son made a nice shot at just over 100 yards into a brushy thicket surrounded by tall trees that created a lot of shade. He turned on the illumination to assure an accurate 1 shot stop. Meopta's MeoStar R2 glass is almost considered the gold standard for low light visibility. Anyone who uses the MeoStar, myself included, will definitely have a low-light story to tell. The MeoSports have arrived in the US, I do not know of any dates for Canadian delivery. You can see pics and read more about the MeoSport R on the Meopta FB Page.

The MeoSport R scope has 2 more lenses (4 more glass surfaces for coatings- I do not know why). My son and I compared the Optika5 to the MeoSport R glass and felt that in daylight, the MeoSport R seemed to pop a little brighter, but in low light, we both thought the Optika glass was a tad better. Enough to make a difference hunting, doubtful. Just passing along my honest impressions of this new release from Meopta. Pics are on Meopta FB page.

Thinking about it. It’s a 3-9x40

Metric adjustments.

I’d be interested. Got a lever gun that might work well on.

Ok - i May get rid of it BustinBeard - leaning very hard that way. My meopta and Zeiss are better n low light - but this has lot of bells and whistles- but i don’t shoot long range - I just want lot of light late

Gone talk to dealer and see if can get my $ back - if can’t - I will get up w you and I will not try to get all my $$ back - just do decent deal
