I have no problem with them doing a one time background check but its wrong to have to keep paying yearly for a guaranteed right THIS ...and any Republican voting vs this should be challenged and primaried

You already have to get a permit to protest in some cases, and you can't carry while in a demonstration in Alabama and maybe elsewhere as far as I know. A carry permit is similar to a poll tax. correct... most concealed carry laws in the South were a central component of late 19th C. jim crow laws..

I’m all for constitutional carry but the problem I have with not having a physical permit, is what do you do when you travel to another state that would normally honor your permit but will not honor constitutional carry? I liked the idea mentioned above of issuing a permit (for free) that is good until you commit a crime that would restrict you from legally carrying a firearm.

You get a permit, the bill(s) wouldn't end permits, that system remains. The bill(s) would end the requirement to have a permit for concealed carry, or to get in a vehicle while open carrying (which somehow is considered concealed in AL) I would just like to know why we need a stack of paperwork, and several different bills to do anything? Why can't anybody get anything done on 1 page of paper? It seems like the usual political dumbf*ckery to me but what do I know?

The house will pass one and the senate a different bill and neither will make it to Maw Maws desk because they can't reconcile the bills. That way all the lyin politicians will be able to claim they're fighting either for constitutional carry or against it without actually doing a damn thing to change the law and blame someone else. It's the same BS game they've been playing with the lottery bill for years. If they do pass something, you can bet there will still be restrictions on our rights.

Cynical, I can't blame you though.
Many other states have passed constitutional carry so we can too, just have to play the long game. They're playing a long game with your FREEDOM. You have too much faith in the Montgomery crooks. We're one of only 5 states without a lottery and they've be "trying" to pass a lottery for over 20 years.

I get what you're saying, but you're interpreting what I'm saying the wrong way.
I agree. I just think your anger is misplaced.
What is your solution then if it isn't to fight politically, but instead to give up and get angry at people like me who are at least trying?
You can do all you can do, and if that isn't enough at least you tried. Instead of not even trying. If you don't even try then you have no right to complain IMO. Unless you are a member of our state legislature, no anger directed at you. I'm skeptical because history tells me not to believe what politicians are telling us.
