I bent the bell on a tasco with my head on a 338 win mag many years ago. Learned a valuable lesson about rifle control that the scar on my noggin reminds me of daily.

835 hands down. My now wife bought me one for Christmas early 90s. I caught some mallards out in the slough behind the house bunched up. I loaded #4s in it and done the sneak. Got about 50 yards from them and they jumped up and I pulled t he trigger. My thumb hit the bridge of my nose and I dropped the gun. I thought it was broken. Had to learn after that how to position thumb so it would never happen again. Chit it hurt for days.

Mossberg 835 for me, when I first started turkey hunting a buddy let me shot his. I handed that mule kicking rattle trap back to him and bought a Remington 1187 SP in real tree camo.

I would have to say when I was 12 years old my Dad gave me a Remington single shot 12 ga. and the first thing I put through it was a 3 1/2" slug. I literally fell on my ass.

I was a fast learner. One time and I figured out to move my thumb.

Well the pic award winner goes to the guy above. I have had my synthetic savage .300wm knock my hat off a few times. Im very careful about how Im positioned when I pull that trigger.

Preach. Nothing like it. Only combo I've ever fired once, and swore I'd never do it again. And I had an 835, and it was nasty with 3.5", but cant hold a candle to that single shot.

A buddy had a pistol grip shotgun when I was in college with some sort of magnum buckshot shells. I fired it once and walked off. Hurt my hand terrible. I still remember that

Probably a light 50 cal. Muzzleloader with 150 grains of 777. Otherwise Id say a youth single shot 20 gauge with 3 inch mags.

Though I used to shoot my 10 gauge BPS straight up in the air when I was in high school. I needed more meat on my 185# skinny butt because I remember that kicking.

I had a 458 Win Mag for a while and shoot 45-70 often, both were/are way more pleasant to shoot than a Winchester Model 70 264 Win Mag I had once, I dont know what it was other than stock shape but that gun was brutal. Ive owned a few 264's and most were brisk kickers but that Model 70 was ridiculous. One caliber I will say people tend to fear but is actually not bad is 375 H&H

I have a current production M70 264 win mag and it's very mild on recoil. But I've known a few who had one of the original pre 64 featherweights in 264 and they said it was tough on the shoulder

I hunted with an 835 for several years. I don’t recall it being particularly violent on the recoil end. Then I hunted with a Supermag for years. I’d actually like to have another just like it. Mossy Oak Breakup, 24-inch barrel. It was Pure Death on anything you pointed it at. I did run both 3.5 and 3-inch shells through it.
Hardest kicking gun I remember was a little short, camo single shot weighed about 4 lbs. bought it as a “mountain turkey” gun. Damn thing shot a foot to one side. I shot it a bunch to make sure it wasn’t me. It wasn’t. The retailer I bought it from was an honest man. He took it back to send back to the factory after shooting it himself and confirming the point of impact problem. It was awful.

A friend had a .338/.378 I believe it was a weatherby magnum. That thing had a muzzle break too and it made such a concusion when it went off it would raise dust off the ground in front of the shooting table at the range. Would knock the hell out of you, absolutely punishing to shoot. Kicked so hard the scope kept sliding forward in the rings and he never could find rings that could handle the recoil. One time an unsuspecting dude was at the next table at the range from him when he fired it and the gases from the muzzle break blew the guys hat off his head! Man he was pissed too. Damn thing should be illegal. He couldn't hit a damn thing with it because of the flinch. Finally found some macho dumbass to sell it to. I think the shells cost over $4 each or some ridiculous amount.

Hardest kicking gun I've shot would have to be a buddies Remington 770 in 30-06. He let me shoot it at his house one day and after 2 times of it almost knocking my hat off I'd had enough.
