Just came back from hunting family farm in Montgomery County, we hunted 12/30/21 - 1/3/22.

My son killed his first on a green field (8point) on 12/31/21. Right before he stepped out we heard deer running and grunting in the clearcut next to the field, not sure if it was this buck. Also had smaller spikes and four points chasing does off the field almost all afternoon.

I killed a buck on 1/3/22. Several bucks had chased does across the field too quick to get a shot but this one came out about 35 mins after the last buck had passed, made a scrape on the field and checked all the does on the field. He stunk worse than any rutting buck I have ever killed.

Curious what everyone else is seeing down there as I am trying to plan my last trip. This action was extremely early compared to previous years, MLK weekend is normally a good benchmark for us.

Thanks and good luck to everyone.

I’m in South Montgomery. They are definitely getting more active, but it’s still at least 10 days away. I had a bachelor group of 6 deer come in 2 nights ago.

I’m hunting in macon county just north of Fitzpatrick. We had a 10 point killed Friday. Another nice 8 this am. Both were cruising. Dark hocks and smelled the part of a deer in rut. It’s about to get fun for a few days.

I just got an update from my buddies that are hunting on the farm this morning, one guy saw a good 8 following does through some pines at first light and then another 8 cutting their wind shortly afterwards. Other buddy had a smaller 8 come across green field with nose to ground, never ate or looked up- just crossed. Then had a big buck skirting wood line of field and could not get a shot. I think I am going to take leave and head down there, Anyone else seeing anything in Montgomery County? Thanks.

I hunt not far behind Sikes & Kohn and Saturday had a couple small bucks eating with 14 does/fawns in the same field. That being said my cameras over the last 10 days have really picked up with new buck pics and bucks just cruising. I am tied up at work today but hope to hunt tomorrow ahead of the rainy weekend.

I hunt maybe 5-6 miles as a crow flies from you on CR 101. It has definitely heated up. I was planning to come back end of Jan but they have me thinking I should head there now! haha

I think it's getting close, the bucks are ready, the does are not. I've seen young bucks harassing does, but the does just wanted to be left alone. It'll happen in next week to 10 days. I've been seeing lots of does in green fields in the afternoon and very few mature bucks. I have seen some bucks that I haven't before in the last week

I hunted over on 101 last Friday and will probably hunt there today right at the end of Peake Rd. I did see a good 7pt and some spikes pushing does over there last Friday. Spikes were grunting pretty good.
