Those look good. What method are you using to coat? What brand powder?

Does the thickness of the powder coating come in to play with the overall diameter of the bullet? I'm asking do the mold have to be special or smaller to allow for the powder coating?

Are you using a powder coat gun and air compressor?

Neither use a small oven i bought at surplus store , put quarter cup powder in tupper ware bowl handfull bullets seal and shake well pour out on 1/4 '' rabbit wire ,try to spread them out with a wire to where they are not laying side by side, touching end to side is ok, cook them for 25 minutes at 400 deg, when i take them out i dump them in cold water to get the BHN around 25, with this BHN they will shoot through two tires standing end to end and keep on going. If i were going to hunt with them I would not quench them, BHN would be around 12, THIS IS WITH TIRE WTS, There is lots of sites on you tube that will show you how to get started, check out Elvis Ammo,This is how I got started, you can use the Wifes oven I want mind, ps does not make a mess

I've tried the shake and bake method using harbor freight powder, but they didn't turn out as well as yours. Is the eastwood powder better to use?

Never used harbor freight, bought some powder you mix alcohol and acetone make a wet mix did not care for this, so as far as I'm concerned yes I like eastwood better, once you powder coat you can hammer bullet flat on anvil and powder coat does not crack or peel off bullet therefore not leaving any lead residue in barrel of gun

It's my understanding that quenching the bullet only makes the surface few thousands harder, which is normally considered a good thing and it's only temporary. Seems like my reading on the subject said it would last a year or two. Just something to think about. I can't prove one way or the other.

Edit: Also remember something about if you resize after quenching that depending on how much squeezing/working of the lead you would effectively eliminate the hard shell. Again can't prove it but I dug into the subject a LOT years ago when I was casting.

JUST FOR YOUR INFORMATION, I have shot a few of the 30/30 cast and powder coated bullets at 50 yards at two 30'' tires standing end to end and the tires never slowed them down, today went to friends club and we shot the 30/30 again with same bullet, shot through a 6 inch pine tree and went through it like butter, got some testing to do.

Educate me fellas, what is the purpose of powder coating?
