They were first released in Cataloochie (sp?) which is in SMNP on the north end but is a pretty good ride from G'burg. They is where the population took off and started spreading
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

The place near Cherokee everyone is talking about is the Oconaluftee Visitor Center. There are a couple of small fields along the rod just before you get there where theyâll often congregate, as well as the big pasture next to the visitor center

Like mentioned previously, if you just want to see them, go to Oconaluftee Visitor Center and they should be out in the fields. If you want to see them without all the traffic around the visitor center, make the trip to Cataloochee. It is well worth the drive to visit the valley. Cades Cove is not worth my time anymore. Well neither is Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg.

Well neither is Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. This! Iâm in Pigeon Forge now and this will be my last trip up here. I canât think of one single thing up here thatâs worth sitting in the traffic and madness that people would want to see. Pigeon Forge is a dump. We often stay in Gatlinburg just because it's convenient to a lot of other stuff...but I've never understood the folks that go up there spend any amount of time "in town" (PF or Gatlinburg). We can go up there for a week and spend pretty much all day, every day in the park. The only time we really spend in town is to eat breakfast and then maybe walk around in the evenings. I don't think we've even gone into PF the last 2 or 3 trips up there unless it was driving through on the way to/from....but I know folks that can go up there for a week and never once set foot in the National Park.....it's mind-boggling
