Not a shooting house but here was my stand when i went to check on it a week before bow season this year. This tree had no signs of being dead. The top was green when it fell. It just had a rotten center that was not noticeable until it fell. No loose bark, dead limbs or anything. Luckily it didnt fall on the stand and crush it.

Google helical anchors. They work.

WAY, WAY, WAY too much work!

Get four 5' T-posts and sledge in at different angles, one per post. Be certain to have flat part of T-post against the shooting-house standard. Drill two or three holes through the T-post and hammer ring-nails through and into standard. A trac-hoe couldn't pick it up!

Done this for years on shooting houses and wooden bunk feeders. Good luck!

I use FIL to mash t post in the ground at an angle over the bottom brace. Cal has a good idea for wood frame shooting houses.

I have the exact same shoot house that’s on the point of a hill in a pasture. It took a direct hit from an F2 tornado and still stood minus windows. I anchored it with a mobile home anchor just screwed in ground with a chain attaching to center of house. Glad your ok.

I climbed a tree in the dark one morning and on the way up I could feel what felt like a hollow knothole about 6’ off the ground. Killed my best deer that morning and was walking to another stand a week or so later and that tree was on the ground..

Just do a 45 degree pike penetration test at ground level and strike the tree with a line hammer to listen for a telltale “thunk”. 🤡

On a side note, I’ve had “two” ladder stands get struck by lightning. Both on the same property. Both pines that had a streak all the way down them and later died.

T-posts and lag bolts for me.

Cable clamps can slip.

Folks here are smarter than I am so I've got nothing on the anchoring but am glad you are as good as you are. If it hasn't
actually happened to our self we all know someone who was seriously injured or had a very close call with worse while deer hunting. I could be the poster child for what not to do. Just a suggestion, get the shoulder looked at. I have two pins stabilizing mine. Its not a pleasant procedure.

Yes sir, they will check all that out once I am able to do something with my elbow. If I need to have it cut on, I want to get it done ASAP so that I can hopefully be in business by next deer season. That said, I don't hear many shoulder surgery stories that make me feel warm and fuzzy! Appreciate advice from all.

That's cause there aren't any.
