Live from swampy south this morning in a ladder on a road for a couple hours..Came up yesterday morning to put out 35 bags of nitrogen and going to hang a ladder on a food plot this morning, so decided to sit in a ladder on a road crossing for a few before we start working again.. I typically don’t hunt in this hot weather in December, but I’m at the camp, so what the hell!! Good luck fellas..

They were moving this am before daylight.

Just put empty 5 gallon bucket in the road at the far end. A deer will step out and then stop and look at the bucket.

Got checked by a warden on Cahaba. My first time to ever get stopped. He did great.

Went as a guest a few years ago, guy said he was gonna put me on a powerline, so I was envisioning a BIG wide powerline. Naw, never seen one like this, it was barely wider than a road and it was planted green. Not long after daylight I could hear a deer coming and caught a glimpse of what looked like a big rack, it popped out around 175 yards and was gonna cross that powerline in a split second. I quickly fired a shot and hit him, but we never found that deer. I was telling him how big it looked, etc. Well they found that deer a week or so later and it was a smallish 8pt. That was embarrassing, I hated I didn't have more time to look at the deer.

A popup in the middle of the road works okay too. If there is no traffic. Slows them down.
