Yep, having a pit bull in public definitely fits the definition of that crime.
No joke, sarcasm or humor implied.

From the top of the article.

"The dog responsible had to be put down, police said"

Too bad that logic can't be used for other situations.

Prayers for the little boy.

Having a pit around kids is asking for trouble.

Maybe. But both ideas can't be true.

I would argue under the right conditions, a person could menace another with a dog. But a cop doesn't have the lawful authority to stop or detain me from safely walking my dog in public. That's not to say they won't.

Got 20 ish dogs in my neighborhood. The one thats part pit part dalmation is the only one that tries to eat anyone that walks by his house and the only one that has attacked a middle age woman on her walk is the half pitbull. Somehow the owners have decided to keep the dog and it still tries to attack every person it sees. I blame the owners for being dumb but I am dumb and neither of my labs try to attack people so maybe the breed does matter or its the dalmatian part thats aggressive

Dalmatians are actually one of the higher breeds for bite risk according to some research but I dunno.

I found this interesting tho.

Left out the malicious whitetail deer! "Deer cause over 1 million motor vehicle accidents in the U.S. each year, resulting in more than US$1 billion in property damage, about 200 human deaths and 29,000 serious injuries.Sep 21, 2021"

Here in Alabama, everyone seems to be really mad at the deer. Seems like every whitetail deer that gets seen, generally gets a bullet or arrow regardless of age, sex, or rack size. So to confirm, you‘re suggesting that the same be done to all pits????

Its amazing how diverse Al is. I live in an area that has alot of bulldogs and I hardly ever see one running wild. While others live in areas that have crazed pitbulls constantly jumping out like zombies from walking dead. Hell, they'll steal them out your fenced in yard here.

Its alot like how folks always have dogs running deer on their land. I got friends with deer dogs that don't run as many deer as yalls neighbors dogs.

I spend alot of time fooling with dogs, ALOT. The fact that I can come here and learn so much about them is truly astonishing.

This is really accurate. I live in a fairly nice neighborhood and we have 3 pit bulls and 1 Rottweiler in our area. Only 1 of the pit bull owners are trashy arse people. They inherited the house and wouldn’t be living in a decent neighborhood otherwise. The other owners are all well off people. One actually comes from a big time millionaire family and she adopted the pit from a rescue.

I think a lot of it, is that these people are either influenced by rap culture and rap videos, or they see all these ASPCA commercials and go to the pound and 9 out of every 10 dogs is a pit or pit mix, so they get one.

Strange that where I stay in the country on the weekends there is only 1 within miles of us. My girlfriends daughter has a pit that’s really old. It’s actually a sweet loving dog, and too old to do much, but i still keep an eye on it. My neighbors in towns pit attacked him when he was arguing with his fiancé and they kept the freaking dog. He had to get like 16 stitches. No way I would’ve kept that dog no matter what breed it was. Stupid.

Pits are great dogs if treated like a normal animal!! Most attacks come from neglected ones or the ones trained to be that way. Have had and seen/been around em for years and with kids as well. Never been an issue. People who think they need to be eliminated have no clue and just read the headlines reported because they are the only breed that gets publicized so heavily. Also the majority of headlines that say pit bull attack are usually mix breeds.

The most aggressive by nature that I've seen are rott/pit mix and lab/pit mix. Years ago we used to keep and even raised a couple litters of pure bread colby/jeep Staffordshire terriers. Fantastic dogs, they were also raised responsibly and well socialized. Have a Presa now, and the only time you have to worry about her comin unglued is if you're messing around on the property/theft, or you show aggression to a family member. Very good with commands and will stand down if I command her too, she'll even catch/no kill and wait for me to call her off. Amazing working dogs if you use some sense and work with them from the time they are weaned. They can also be a nightmare in the wrong hands. Certain things you never do/ allow them to do, they are dominant by nature, and if you give them room to feel they have established dominance of the house, you have just invited a world of trouble in. Not at all for the inexperienced, or thug types. I would never allow someone to adopt a dog of that caliber without some knowledge of their intent, or experience with molossers/catch dogs.

I have been gashed by an aussie though. Slipped up behind me, never barked, and BAM!
