Gonna spread some ammonia on my fields after my morning hunt today since their is finally some rain coming in. I have never really came back and added fertilizer before but I have some really good fields this year so I figured why not try it. Hopefully it will help green it up more in case we ever get colder weather and they start hitting the fields hard.

Workin for the man, huntin when I can.

Are you using a hand spreader or atv?

My plots look great, in the exclusion cages, the rest of it is not doing so well.

"Cull" is just another four letter word...

As warm and humid as it is with all this dew, wait till after the rain. That white stuff melts faster than ice cream and doesn’t need rain. Grass has a very shallow roots and needs the fertilizer on top not washed away. As much as that stuff cost, I don’t want any rain in the forecast for several days, the dew and humidity will take care of it.

You need enough rain after you put nitrogen fertilizer out to wash it into the soil. If you don't, it'll disappear alright, but it won't do much good because it will volatize and go into the atmosphere not into what your trying to fertilize.
