I was a finance manager for Hyundai for about 4 years. We couldn’t keep mechanics because the work just wasn’t there. Tuscaloosa Hyundai actually has a million mile warranty on their vehicles. Talk to David Clements, the new car manager and tell him I sent you. Good Christian guy!

Totally different animal and Genesis actually split off from Hyundai several years ago, prob the reason for the parts shortage. But I agree, no way I’d buy a $85K luxury Kia or Hyundai. You buy a Kia or Hyundai to keep from paying Honda and Toyota prices, not to pay Cadillac prices.

My 2015 sonata has been great and unless they’ve changed them up, the Santa Fe shares the same drive train as a sonata.

On my 4th Hyundai/Kia and zero problems with any of them.

Santa Fe and Rav4 prices are basically the same. Actually Hoover Toyota has some Rav 4's that are cheaper than the lowest priced Santa Fe at Hoover Hyundai.

But Santa Fe and Rav4 aren’t comparable. The Tucson is the Rav4 competition. Rav4 needs another row of seats to compete with the Santa Fe.

You're only as good as your worst shot-

Have a BIL that is the QC director at Montgomery plant. He doesn’t have anything bad to say about them. Even behind closed doors.

The Kia Telluride looks awesome, the Hyundai Palisade looks quite terrible, the Genesis GV80 looks amazing.
Kinda crazy consider I believe all three share the same/similar drivetrain/underpinnings.

A lot of the Hyundai SUV's are made at the KIA
plant in West Point.
Any differences are superficial/name only.
Don't know the price difference, but customer
preference would be the important thing in my
book looking only at resale time.

We bought my wife a ‘22 Telluride a few months ago. It’s an absolutely wonderful vehicle. Plenty of room and every bell and whistle you could ever want. They are proud of those things tho. But up until that time she was driving an ‘03 Lexus LS 430 with 270K miles so it was time to upgrade.

We looked at several other SUV’s but that one was our favorite. Gardendale Kia is who we bought from.

Wife has a 2014 Santa Fe. No complaints and it has more options and creature comforts than most suvs twice the price.

Daughter has a Sonata from Tuscaloosa Hyundai and it has the million mile warranty. For clarity, the MM warranty is a Tuscaloosa Hyundai warranty, not Hyundai. You keep the oil changed when they say and the warranty stays in effect.

Bought the daughter a 2014 Santa Fe Ultimate 3.3L after she totaled her Equinox. The oil has to be changed every 3500 miles, I hate that. I just had and AC line replaced it developed a hole-strange for sure. It has an intermittent light that comes on for cam position sensor. Damn thing only has 53K miles. Wife's cousin does a lot of our mechanic work and he told me that it is an electrical issue and will be time consuming to find. Those 3.3 motors are damn near bullet proof. I just told her to drive it like it is. We drove it to FL back in early October. Drives great.

Just curious what model explorer and what trouble she’s had? We have a 2015 limited and it’s been a great vehicle so far. But it’s only got about 118,000 miles.
