Hiring Mike Bolton was the beginning of the end. Curious as to why you think this (I don’t have an opinion one way or another). Sucks to see a magazine like that go down. They at least tried to do a good job of covering local outdoor related topics and highlighting local people who accomplished things as they enjoyed our hobby.

Let’s be honest. That magazine was dogshit! Alabama Game and Fish was dogshit too! I am sure it is hard to keep a magazine like that running. I too like to read magazines rather than look on the internet.

Big Bore is definitely NOT mike.
Mike Bolton was a hack who lived off his father's coattails at the Birmingham News. His father was a legend amongst sportswriters.

When they first came out I loved it, subscribed every year for a while. But then it seemed to turn "generic" like all the other hunting mags (just like "Alabama Game & Fish"). Reading the articles were like listening to coach speak, it didn't mean anything, just filling up the page. For a while I would tear out the GPS waypoints on the fishing articles and check them out. My opinion was 99% of them were made up
We were on the edge of Eternia, when the power of Greyskull began to take hold.

I liked the AON magazine myself I still like to read magazines. Every other "outdoor" magazine is nothing but a advertisement. That's what's really wrong with magazines IMO they just a bunch of BS articles trying to promote products. I get that this is how money is made but at some point hunting magazines use to have articles that were about hunting and worth reading. It's been a long time coming for Outdoor Life and some of those staples they haven't had anything between the covers worth reading in 20 years. There is a magazine called Firearms News that is pretty good if you like guns it use to be called the Shotgun News.
No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.
