Why do a lot of y'all say you will only sell to Alabama residents? There are a lot of us from Ms that might be close by and want to buy from you.

The way I read the law is you can sale Long Guns to adjoining states, just not hand guns. Maybe I’m misinformed…

If you want to get the abbreviated information read the thread titled Firearm Purchases and Sales-READ THIS FIRST. It’s at the top of the classified ads. Bama Chem did a good job of summarizing the legal speak and made it easy to keep folks out of trouble.

Thanks for the replies. I had no idea FTF sells to a nonresident were illegal in Al. I will and do buy from folks in Ms but if I see a rifle I want on here and it's close by, I would rather buy from folks I feel like I know. I guess I learned something today.

Thanks for the replies. I had no idea FTF sells to a nonresident were illegal in Al. It's not just illegal in Alabama...it's federal law. Covers all 50 states I can sell you a firearm, but it must be shipped (or I can carry it myself) to a FFL holder in Mississippi, then you take possession from the FFL. See this post... I sold rifle to someone in MS and it was no trouble using a FFL. It cost about $50 total between the “2 FFL’s. If it’s something you want don’t let the feds stop you ffom getting it.

Firearm Purchases and Sales - READ THIS FIRST!Most of that is talking about shipping guns or selling hand guns. Cliff Notes version then... Direct from the ATF website: "Please note that if a private person wants to obtain a firearm from a private person who resides in another State, the firearm will have to be shipped to an FFL in the buyer's State. The FFL will be responsible for record keeping." CORRECTION: Handguns must be transferred to buyer by FFL in the state the buyer is a resident of Long guns must still be transferred via FFL but can be in the state the seller resides in Federal law for interstate gun sales and other transfers – those occurring between two people who are not Federal Firearm Licensees (FFLs) who live in different states — is pretty straightforward. A person who is not an FFL cannot acquire a handgun from anyone – an FFL or any other person – who lives in another state. A person (the “transferee”) acquiring a long gun must do so through a licensed dealer (FFL). It can be an FFL in any state, the transfer must comply with the laws of the FFL’s and the transferee’s states.

It can be shipped to FFL, I can drive it to the FFL myself (done so several times after consulting with the transferring FFL as to how they want it done as both buyer and seller), I can put it on the Pony Express and have them carry it over...it just has to go through FFL
