I don’t know why or what it is, but it’s just where I feel at home and at ease. Over the years I have been on a roller coaster of emotions with the outdoors and hunting. But as time marches on and I get older, I just find myself happy in my soul to be in the woods. I don’t get to go as much as I’d always would like, but according to my wife it is excessive at times. It seems as each season comes and goes the passion to be in the woods just grows. It Really does not make a difference what I am doing, as long as I am there to take in the sights and smells of the woods, I feel contentment. Each season I am blessed to see again just seems to encourage and reenforce the love for the outdoors. As life gets faster and more complicated, the pace just seems to slow down once I get in the outdoors. I thank the lord for planting this seed in my soul, some days it seems it’s the only reprieve from the craziness of life in today’s world.
I hope and pray that each and every one of you are able to find a reprieve to ease your worry, soothe your soul and place some semblance of peace in your heart and mind.

If it wasn’t for the woods I’d have been dead long ago. I use to love to hunt more then anything. Now I just love to feed and grow them and shoot one occasionally
Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!

Don’t ever get a job working in the woods. I never thought it could change my passion for hunting, but it did. It’s a weird deal and I had a guy warn me 20+ years ago. Yup. Same here.

I spent most of my free time when young in the woods. Then I got a job that kept me in the woods most every hour of every working day, and spent my off time in the woods. I retired and bought some woods. I am outdoors every day. The time working in the woods did not change my passion for hunting but age(70) has finally dimmed it some. I still go and still kill my share of deer, but not as passionately as I once did. I now spend that time teaching my grandson how hunt and appreciate the woods.
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

The woods and turkey hunting helped me keep my sanity when COVID first broke out and the shutdown happened. We didn’t know how bad it was or what was going to happen. I was still working. But in the woods, you forget about all the day-to-day and focus on the here and now.

The woods have been my safe place for over 40 years. Not sure I'd do to well without them.

Same here OP….. in the woods is where I find the most peace on this earth. Just soothes my soul. Ditto, when I go through the gate I leave the world on the outside. My 880 acres of Heaven. Even though my wife doesn't hunt she loves it up there also.
