I think these are scams when they don't want to sell. Either they are trying to get someone to offer an awful high price, trying to find a way to knock you in the head and steal your cash, figure the buyer is a criminal, or they are meth heads.

I was thinking the same thing.

I’d still buy it at a lower price if he’d deliver it. And as soon as the deal was done I’d tell him to phuck off.

I found a tractor on line a while back and called the guy and we talked a couple of times and I went and looked at it, the power steering was acting up and he said he’d have Sunsouth check it out and call me back. I told him I was gonna buy the tractor if he got that fixed and asked if he needed a deposit. The old fella said “No sir, you were the first to call and you gave me your word and I’m giving you mine, the tractor is yours if you want it”. I bought it a week later. Good, square business deals are harder to find than they used to be.

Why in the world would the idiot let you sit there, go through the truck, then after all that, proceed to negotiate on price, only to tell you no at payment. What an asshole. What was the point?

Several years ago I drove to Nashville to look at a Tahoe. Talked to the guy on the phone and text about the Tahoe. Everything was suppose to be in great shape. I get there and get in it to crank it to test drive and it was knocking like a pea thrasher. I asked him how come he didn't let me know the condition the motor was in when we had talked on the phone. He said he hadn't told anyone about the knocking because he thought it might keep a potential buyer from coming to look at it. The worst part was I had just worked a 10 hour shift then drove 2 hrs to look at it.

Oh hell naw. I flip a lot of stuff on marketplace. Its absolutely unbelievable and aggravating

If he calls back when the other guy doesn't show your response should be simple " Due to my loss of time, dealing with this the offer has dropped $1,000. Take it or leave it."

the other day I agreed to hold a piglet for some lady and turned down other buyers for the last female. you can probably guess who's still holding the pig. from now on its first person to hand me the cash.

I've had this happen to me a couple times on equipment recently they got a couple people on the hook and they try to pull some BS and get you into a bidding war with someone else. This dude is going to go back to his first buyer and tell him he's got a backup offer and won't take less. Ultimately he will likely sell the truck at a higher price.
