Has anyone ever used 10-10-10 or 6-4-8 fertilizer for their food plots. I’ve always used 13-13-13 but it’s a high this year. Found the other two fertilizers pretty cheap.

Of course they are cheap. They are mostly filler rock. Pay the money for triple 13 or 17.

6-4-8 would work if you put truck load on each field. Not trying to be a tool, but you need to get a little education on fertilizer

Get what you pay for. Everything is high this year it seems. I just but the bullet and bought the same amount as I always have.

It’s cheap because you have to buy more to get the same nutrients.

I'm not sure either of those are going to get you the results you want, but if you want to find out for yourself, try some 10-10-10 in one or two of your fields and compare it to others.

You didnt say what the prices were. Could be you are getting a better deal with the 10-10-10

If the prices go too much higher then it will only help to drive a demand for "alternatives"......just sayin

That’s not even 50# bags. So it’ll take you 2.5 bags per acre to get 13-13-13. Do the math. That’s not a bargain at all. And it’s going higher fast

To get anything meaningful out of triple 13 you got to at least run 300# per acre. That’s $88 per acre.

I hear of a couple people using chicken litter, what’s the deal with it?

Litter runs on avg around 5-5-5 per 100 LBs. Batches can vary greatly tho. Buts it’s a slower release of plant food. Fairly cheap too.

It would probably be bit of an apples to oranges comparison to only look at the numbers from an analysis……Two reasons…………1) I would imagine that the litter is more available for plant uptake than the synthetic form…..and 2) The litter is also giving you a big microbial boost as well as adding tons of already decomposed organic matter…….So while the analysis may not look as strong at a 5-5-5……I’m saying that the actual in the field “performance” will be just as good or better than your traditional 13-13-13’s and such…..Not to mention the long term benefits.
