Dang Hawk. You could have stayed close to home and just slipped down to Gulf Shores. It is tourist season you know. Last time I was down that way 6 little kids were trying to push a big girl, in a black bathing suit, back in the water. 😄

Sorry timberman56, I couldn’t help it. Hope you and the wife have fun.

Should be great weather and no humidity! Hopefully Covid won't shut things down up there.

the last 2 replies is zackly why we're going N. ; that and the fact that our plane tickets, rental car, eats, and rooms add up to less $$ than a week in a decent place at GS, rooms there have hit the roof with many rentals still not repaired from the hurricane last fall. thanks for the replies guys, really looking forward to some cool weather, low humidity, new scenery and good food....anyone know a good seafood place in Maine??? just kidding

The last time I was in Portland there was a little place right on the water with the best lobster rolls that I have ever eaten.

Not sure what kind of time you have but we’ve been to Maine a couple times during late September and early October. It’s absolutely beautiful for one so anything you do you’re going to enjoy, especially the weather. If you can drive out to the I-95 corridor towards New Hampshire there’s lots of wilderness and the Moose are rutting. Pretty impressive to see those bulls out in a field.

So how was your trip to Maine? Wife and I are considering a trip to that area for our 25th Anniversary?
Thanks

Wife and I went first week of October. Stayed in Portland for 3 days, bar harbor for 1.5, and rockland for 1. We loved it all, but in the future we will go back and spend a whole trip in bar harbor. It was incredible. Make sure you book a time slot to go to the top of Cadillac Mountain. I highly recommend coastal Maine.

We are looking at late June.
Where did you fly in to?
Did anybody visit Camden?
SBS; where did you stay in Bar Harbor?

We flew into Portland and drove up to bar harbor. We stayed at the Harborside Hotel. We drove through Camden on our way down the coast and made a note to go back there when we go again. Make sure you stop at the LL Bean store if you fly into Portland and drive to bar harbor.

If you spend any time in Portland, go to Allagash Brewery. We went to 4-5 different ones and it was by far the best.

Go to Becky’s diner. Also Dimillos on the wharf.

If you are a hiker, the climb to the top of MT. Katahdin is awesome. It is the northern terminus of the Appalachian Trail.
Also treat yourself to some Whoopi Pies.

we flew into Manchester NH, as flights out of Bham to there were lots cheaper. had a blast, ate lobster twice a day just about every day. beautiful up the coast from Portland to Bar Harbor. go ahead and reserve your slot to Cadillac Mtn (you dont have to hike there if u dont want) to see the 1st light to hit the US for the sunrise time as soon as you book your trip if you're going to Acadia/Bar Harbor. did a few hikes in the park, lobster boat cruise, went fishin in Acadia-no luck. Kennebunkport cool little town, saw the Bush compound. LL Bean store & the returns store across the road worth the time. did I mention the food was amazing. already making plans to go back with some friends later this year.
