What are the odds the stock market, Nasdaq and Dow will average 8% over the next 10 to 15 years? It doesn't mean it that we won't have a flat or negative year, but over time average is what I'm asking.

Sure has gone flat since January.... wondering what changed.  Dow is up 15% YTD S&P 18% NASDAQ 16.5%

7-9% when using index funds is what I plan on seeing over the next 30 years.
For most, the biggest future unknowns will be taxes & the cost of health care. A lot of investment folks are forecasting 5-7% average over the next decade. There has to be a huge correction soon, which will be good for the long-term IMO. Just have the expectation of 5-7% average over the next many years, and if AU7MM08 is right, you'll have extra.

My entire portfolio is up 11% YTD. I'm only 60% invested in stocks though.

A lot of investment folks are forecasting 5-7% average over the next decade. 5% is the number I am using in my retirement calculator

You should be able to get solid returns via Dividend stocks. There is nothing wrong with that strategy either and in my opinion more stability. Way too many out there have figured out the Stock Market = Legalized Gambling and treat it as such. You are supposed to be investing in companies but market investors don't do much of that any longer. Everything is speculation currently because the Fed's actions. That's why you are about to see a floater. That turd is riding right below the surface at about neutral buoyancy.
No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

Flat since Jan? I'm up about 15% YTD in a conservative portfolio. Up 50-60 % from the covid bottom I agree. I’m up 22% since January 1.

They can literally ruin a company.

I am up over 15% in my account for work. It's not like it was during the Trump administration, and there is no telling where it would be if he had been re-elected.
We are on track this year to beat any year Trump was in office.
