Came a damn downpour around 3 this afternoon. My rain gauge showed 4 1/2 inches in about thirty minutes. Flooded in some neighborhoods. East of bamaeyedoc’s office it was like a river on Vaughn road. Power still out.

I’m on the West side of Prattville at twin valley and it did the same thing over here. Some of the hardest rain I’ve ever seen.

4 inches in my rain gauge near Eastchase- saw water flowing in places along Vaughn road near Ryan road I had never seen water before. I was traveling, but understand there was a pretty big power outage- didn't last too long though I hear. That makes 10 inches of rain since July 15 at my house.

For some reason the power went out in Pike Road and the East end of Montgomery on Vaughn road around 11. Then the storm hit at 3 and the power is still off.

We actually had to close office today for lack of power. Went off around noon for some weird reason. Something about a substation screw up. Didn’t come back on til around 5. That storm was something. Crazy wind. Bad lightening all close by and we got about 5 inches in less than an hour at our house in east Montgomery.

I saw several young women drown cars in Wynlakes on my way home from work. They were trying to drive Mercedes SUV's through water that was filling folks mailboxes up. Water was probably 15" deep on Vaughn Rd in front of Vaughn Forest church when I went through there around 4:30.

Drove in it on 65 yesterday from Bay Minette to Greenville. For some reason many, if not most, people decided it was better to have their Hazard Flashers on instead of their regular lights. That is illegal for two reasons, 1, Flashers are for emergencies only and rain does not constitute an emergency and 2, the law requires you to have headlights on in the rain. Of course there were a few dummies with neither on. Amazingly, there was only one wreck along the way. I bet we got 2 feet of rain on us through all of that. I guess the storm just followed along with us. The bed of my truck should be nice and clean anyhow.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

Hold on now......but I think suddenly not being able to see the road or the other cars around me would qualify as an emergency....... grin

Yeah the power went off at my mom's house in Deer Creek hours before the storm hit.
I was downtown when it rolled in and it was pitch black. I saw a lot of photos on the wsfa website of the flooding.

Here’s what I was told. The power went off due to the work the power company was doing at the sub station on Ray Thorington road behind Blount elementary. Then with all the utilities being underground the downpour and wind with the storm made it worse. The flooding started in the lake in Breckenridge and worked it’s way too the Autumnbrooke pod in Deer Creek. Plus all the drainage grates were clogged up from the pine straw and mulch that ran off into the curbs.
