I remember when the only thing on 30A was the Wagon Wheel restaurant in Sea Grove. I also remember when the village of Seaside was being built. Then the folks with money found out the area and everything changed. They’d pass by our place and shake their head at the rusted out boat trailers and trucks in the yard. But were envious of the way we launched our boat from the beach and the amount of fish we caught.

I’d forgot about that wagon wheel landmark. As a kid we would go to Peek’s Inn in PC but would go to the wagon wheel for dinner once per trip.
Last time thru there was a development that looked European kinda maybe Greek. Close to Rosemary beach or it may have been an offshoot. White two story shops with plenty of wealthy, beautiful people/families walking around. Looked like models in a commercial honestly.

Been a lots of folks down here all summer too. Way more than normal.

We just got back from Navarre Beach and there were more Louisiana tags than Florida tags it seemed. And I normally like hanging out with Louisiana folks at football games and such, but having a group of them next to you on the beach or in the campground is worse than having Gypsies move in next door.

We went through Perdido Key last weekend and we’re amazed at the condos that cost $1,000,000 or more.

We have a Redneck Condo (AKA Mobile Home) as a weekend getaway there in Lillian, AL it is about 15 minutes inland from Perdido Key. I have been down a couple of times in the past month. A couple of evenings I thought I would cruise down and get some seafood for supper there on Perdido Key or Orange Beach. No such luck... some of the worst wait lines that I have ever seen down there.

I don't know if it is still folks trying to get in a vacation after the COVID lockdowns or what. I'm hoping it'll slack up some by Sep or Oct...

I hate the heat. I dang sure ain't driving to go sit on a beach with zero natural shade. Plus it's boring as hell. Sit around And bake in the sun or go shop at tourist food and store shops. No thanks. That's just me though.

The PCB, 30A, Santa Rosa area has become almost impossible to enjoy for the numbers of people who are there YEAR ROUND

I have a place down there.

The LSU crowd has made it's way all the way to Destin/Ft. Walton on their Eastern migration from OB/Gulf Shores. They'll be down at 30A next tangling with the Nashville crowd.

It's really changed in the last about 20 years.

I've about decided it isn't worth owning a place any longer. True Story. I get mad enough driving all amongst the beach traffic between B'ham and Montgomery and I regret going another 3 hours to just sit with them on 98 trying to get back and forth to the grocery store or somewhere to eat.

It's bad. Getting ruined no doubt.

We found a new beach we like with fewer people and more room. I'm not a beach guy but even I like it. Likely won't be back at GS/OB except for a rare trip or in the off-season. The amount of crazy on multiple levels makes it not worth it.

Much more relaxing places to go than a nasty sandy beach. You just gotta get everybody on board. Nobody likes the beach. Some admit it, some never will. It’s some pride thing or something.
