Wondering if anyone here has built a 12V atv mounted spray rig.

How much did you spend?
How has reliability been?
Any regrets/planned upgrades?

Thank you.

Thought about it once n priced what I wanted and decided it wasn't worth my time for what I could buy it for...

That’s sorta where I’m at.
It’ll need to either be significantly better, significantly cheaper or ideally both to justify itself.

This Fimco is $500

Ive got a black rain boomless nozzle. It covers 15ft and takes 2gpm to work. I have never used it on my atv sprayer but i did use it this year on my pto sprayer. It worked good. I guess all you would have to do is buy the nozzle and clamp it on the back of your atv or sxs.

That's nice I didn't spend over 200 on mine and ended up buying another pump the next year...may be worth it to spend that...I use a 500 gallon John blue boom for big stuff tho...

I got this one 3 years ago and have been very pleased with it, no issues so far. My buddy bought the fimco first of the summer and has returned it 3 times

Here you go. This is not the one i bought but i think itll be what you want. Just make sure youre putting out enough gpm with your sprayer to push it.

As long as they sale black rain boo less sprayers for 50 bucks no need to build ya own. It’s sprays about 12 foot or so and does a great job.

Get a pump from tractor supply and mount it to the top of a 55 gallon drum. It plugs into the utv cigarette lighter and has an on off switch. The 55 gallon drum sits in the back of the utv and is secured by 2x4s. On the tailgate will be a 2x4 laid on its side. 1/2” or 3/4” pvc pipe mounted to that 2x4 to stick out the back of utv probably about 4 ft long. On each end two 180 degree sprinkler heads. Garden hose from pump to pvc at the back, can also but in a ball valve to close it off. That’s broken up and probably a terrible explanation but hopefully you can picture what I’m saying

I should add - I already had the 2x4s and 55 gallon drum. The pump was about $75 from tractor supply. Everything else I had on hand and it has been 100% reliable. IMO it does better than most sprayers you can buy.

I had a 30 gallon tank with a wand. I added a Y, some shut off valves, see hose and a boomless nozzle. I attached the hose and boomless nozzle to a porch spindle and I strap it where I need it. Use the wand or boom and it works like a champ. The Y, hose, cutt offs and nozzle I think totaled around $60 at the farmer coop.

There is nothing special about the black rain. It is just a boomless nozzle, shower ell, and a clamp. The atv model uses a ground rob clamp to hook to your atv rack.

This is a good nozzle Mash here

Buy a 10 or 12 Rainbird VAN nozzle. They will work with 1gpm pumps when set up to spray a 180. If you have a 2gpm pump you can step up to a 15 or 18 VAN. You can build the whole thing, including shutoff, for less than $10. The nozzles are about $1 each.

If you need a pump furflyin is the man. He has better pumps for less money than tsc and the coops.

Best I can tell the 12V pumps I'm seeing range from 1.2GPM up to 5.5GPM.

I got mine off amazon. with a 2 jet boom. I bend it because I end up backing into stuff, because I am skilled like that.

True, but they are not all created equal from a quality standpoint.

Makes sense. Range from real terrible to real excellent.

I already had a 26 gallon sprayer. Spent $50 on 2 nozzles, a few barbed fittings and some tubing. Had a bag of clamps, some wire ties and 36” of 3/4 pvc to mount it to. Mounted the nozzles 30” apart. Covers about 12’ per pass.
