I have a house that I am in the process of selling. The rain we had Saturday has shown me that we have water coming up from the floor on the back enclosed porch. The house is built on a slab and has not had this experience in the last 20 years I have lived in it. Homeowners insurance tell me that it is not covered unless it is from damage caused by hail, wind, etc.... I have never dealt with any of the foundation repair companies and I was wondering if anyone else had good/bad experiences with similar situations. If you know of anyone in NE Alabama that you can recommend, please do so.

Make sure it’s not a water pipe leaking by shutting all faucets off and not running dish or clothes washer. Then go check the little spinning thing on the meter. If it’s moving at all then there’s a leak and it might be under that slab. Ours did it after a rain and we thought it was the rain but it kept getting worse.

If it’s a leaking pipe that a homeowners insurance claim.

Sounds like you may have a drainage issue, you might can can install some undeground drains. You can't stop water but you can divert it.

I had water coming in under the foundation of a house that I was fixing to sell last year. The problem was that about half the front yard was higher than the bottom of the foundation and when it rained the water went towards that end of the house. We ended up digging a trench around the affected area and putting in french drains. I tied the drains together and used a lot of gravel and diverted the water away from the house, way out in the yard where the grade fell off. I couldn't believe how much the french drains helped and the area under the house dried out and no more problems. Maybe this is what you are looking for to help.

I had a home that Kennedy home movers put piers in for due to a cracked slab. Never had issues with it and the independent structural engineer I had look at it said it was a good repair and should be stronger than the original.

I used “jade engineering” in Huntsville.

I met with the foundation folks yesterday. They suggested that I put in a french drain. Supposed to meet with someone about installing a french drain later this week. Thanks for all of the suggestions and information.
