Anytime I need some extra money I make a run for my buddies at the CIA. Usually it’s either guns to Nicaragua, or Sandinistas to the training facilities in Arkansas, occasionally even bring back a load of coke and drop it just offshore of OB/GS.
Are you serious Clark?? I didn’t have much choice after they caught me red-handed smuggling Cuban cigars thru the pilot’s lounge while flying for TWA. I hear you......What choice do you really have at that point.......

We might have met in the early 1980s. Small airplanes had a thriving business back then.

That guy in that Tom Cruise movie got the pre DC Clinton Flu It's a great movie and a true story. But you're right, no one steals drugs and drug money from the federal government and cartels and survives it. My favorite scene is when he crashes the plane in a neighborhood and rides away on the bicycle.

If you could retire at 45 with enough income coming in to maintain your lifestyle?
I wouldn't want to quit work all together, but what would be a good side job to supplement my hunting and fishing habit?
Go for it! I retired at 43 and haven't looked back.

When I retire I’m gonna work 2-3 days a week at one of our local hardware stores. Already got it covered.

For those that are retiring young.
Are you in a government position with a pension? Business owner? W2 employee? Guy I went thru high school with retired at 43 as a fireman. Started the day after he graduated high school and turned in his 25yrs, all at the same station. Not my cup of tea but I can’t knock it.

If I truly didn't need the income at all, I'd start up a lawn care "business" where I'd cut grass for elderly folks that couldn't do it themselves or afford to pay a lawn service, and do so at no charge. I enjoy cutting grass, so it wouldn't feel like a "job". I'd take donations from anyone that wanted to give one to pay the overhead, but wouldn't charge the homeowner.
3% donation? hahahaha j/k

I didn’t know this was a thing until today, but a lady I work with has a retired husband that gets paid to bring his cattle dogs and temporary corrals if needed to gather up cattle for transport or whatever That’s definitely not a retirement gig. Those guys earn every penny.

If by age 45 I had amassed enough to be able to retire and live comfortably including all medical expenses in old age, a socked-away emergency fund, and everything was copacetic, there is no way in hell I'd ever work a day in my life again.
Stay busy? Sure. I'd be hunting, fishing, yard stuff, whatever. But I'd never work a job for The Man again, ever, if there was ample money for retirement. The issue is having enough to cover medical expenses that will be there for you and/or your spouse.
I don't understand wanting to work for someone after retiring. Staying busy is one thing. Actually having a job and working more? Hell no.
