Oh yeah, but I figured Irish or one of our other travelers who sniff out the good places might have some first hand info.

Tamales and margaritas, forgot the name. It is on the river looking at the bridge. IIRC, not a B&B ^^^Fat Mama’s. Get the gringo pie. Definitely put it on the list of a meal or two. Also great lunch spot BBQ: Pig Out Inn Seafood/Steak: Roux 61 south of town Italian: Pearl Street Pasta All around food: Biscuit n Blues Fried Catfish: Fish House on 61N. Take out only. Donuts: The Donut Shop on the bypass. Absolutely, unequivocally the best donuts you’ll ever eat. Some of the better houses are Longwood, Monmouth, Dunleith and Stanton Hall. Pretty cool horse drawn carriage tours that will take you around town and give you a history lesson. Recommend doing that. The Spring Pilgrimage used to be a re-enactment of Old South. I think they have pretty way done away with it the past 2-3 years. You can check on that. Might have to buy advanced tickets. Natchez is a very cool town. Incredible amount of history and you will enjoy your stay for a day or two. Also, if the river is up (50ft or higher) ride over to Vidalia, hop on the levee and make the drive up to Lake St. John. Some BIG alligators on the edge of the water/levee. That area is Giles Island and Rifle Point...some of the best hunting in the entire country.

Great restaurant suggestion by AlaMiss. Forgot about Magnolia under the hill. Recommend the Catfish Briars there. Great view and good food.

Sadly it looks like King’s Tavern is permanently closed. We ate there a couple of summers ago and it was some very good food there with an awesome setting. I believe the building that King’s Tavern is in is the oldest building still standing in Natchez. Fat Mama’s is good as well. We mainly walked around the area of town near the River and it is a very relaxing small town feel there. Just across the River from Natchez is where the Jim Bowie knife fight happened on a sandbar. Drove over to Ferriday, LA the town where Mickey Gilley and Jerry Lee Louis grew up in but really not much to see there.

Update:
Mrs. and I pulled out 6/12 headed for Natchez , before getting on the Trace we stopped by the Alabama Music HOF in Tuscumbia . Jumped on the Trace and headed South , ate lunch at French Camp and spent the night in Jackson. Pulled into Natchez bout high noon Sunday and made our way to our B&B. We went to the Little Easy for a late lunch. Before our three days were up we toured Stanton Hall, Rosalie and Longwood . We did a tour with Rev's Tours , Rev is a Baptist preacher who does a tour around town and out in the country, he's very knowledgeable and a hoot. . We ate at Fat Momma's, The Camp, Monmouth 1818, Magnolia ( wife had the Catfish Briars and loved it) . All were very good . We crossed the river Wednesday AM and headed to Hot Springs for a couple of days . We stayed at Hot Springs Treehouses and had plenty of good eats there as well. , The area is much like 'Ol Hi- Jackson, with beautiful lakes and hardwood mountains. . We headed home Friday via I40 , then through Brinkley , crossing the river at Helena and then #4 and 7 through Holly Springs to 72. Loved both places , plenty of history and things to see and do both places. I recommend both to anyone.
Thanks to all above for good intel.

Sounds like a good time. What are catfish briars? Catfish Briars is Catfish fillets covered in shrimp with mushrooms , green onions , bread crumbs and cheese on top and baked.

Glad y’all had a good trip dogs. What did you think of Fat Mama’s? You get the gringo pie? Didn’t see you mention the Donut shop, but hope you were able to get by there for a half dozen or so. Longwood is probably the coolest house in Natchez. I’m headed that way in just a few days. Thanks for the follow up!

I did have the Gringo Pie , mighty fine! We didn't stop at the doughnut shop, we should have bought a dozen for the trip to Hot Springs.
I agree Longwood is a special place, I called it the " what if house" , had it been finished as planned it would be one of the finest homes in the US. Stanton Hall is lavish and has some amazing fixtures imported from Europe , it had piped in Coke gas lights. Rosalie has the best and largest collection of furniture that is original to the house, including a 200+ YO grandfather clock that runs and keeps perfect time. Was amazing how much wealth those folks had , I heard several times while in Natchez there was 500 millionaires living there! One guide said they averaged 8 barge loads of cotton a week shipped out at $750 K each . That would be real $ today. But it all dried up with Lincoln's executive order and most of the large planters went broke . All those thousands of acres and no labor to farm them and cotton prices went to just pennies a pound.
The feller who owned Longwood owned 6 plantations totaling 43,000 acres , he died just after the war started . The family lost all the land and his widow had to sell milk and eggs to get by. They went for mega rich to flat broke over a few years time.

Glad you had a good time. We have been several times and we have also been to Hot Springs. (Hot springs was probably our longest motorcycle trip.) This post reminds me that it's time we went back to Natchez.
There is a nice self guided walking tour around Natchez.
