We did that trip and along the way stopped and had a cowboy breakfast in Palo Duro Canyon in Amarillo, sight seeing in Santa Fe, trout fishing on San Juan river, 4 Corners then on to Grand Canyon, then down to Sedona.

Highly recommend Slippery Rock park...like a big natural water slide. Also had fun on Pink Jeep Tours in Red Rock Canyon.

If you drive for about 45min-1 hour south toward Phoenix, you will see tons of the Saguaro Cactus, that you won't see around Sedona.

Enjoy!

This will probably sound like the lamest and kind of redneck - we used to travel all over - but the last 15-20 years we go to Orange Beech and like it bettr than those places we used to travel long way to go see

What about fishing close to canada in Wisconsin, minnesota, or michigan. I have a lot of good memories fishing for pike, smallies, and walleye on our trips.

I'd love to make a rainy trip if my dad was still around.

Some of the best most enjoyable for everyone in the family was all inclusive in Cancun and Washington DC.

this they will thank you more later in life for these memories than a cruise. They may never get another chance to see Yellowstone etc you never know. That’s one vacation/area I’ve never been and I regret that

I didn't know cruises were full on yet. Finding an all inclusive you can fly into the country of choice, stay at the resort, take a boat out with just the family. Those ages are still up for adventure and seeing other kids. 20 something hours on the road doesn't sound like something the young kids are going to want. My idea, do some island hopping in the Caribbean, don't just stay at one place. Pick a group of islands you can move between staying a few nights in each area. You can use boats or sea planes to move from island to island.

Yellowstone in the summer is kind of like disney, rome, or paris. Sure was neat to see, but now that its crossed off the list I'm ready to move on. Too many people at the "attractions" and too much traffic getting to them. If I take my kids back it will not be during peak season.

I hear some people love it but to me the huge parking lots, lodges, and high volume tourism turned me off. But hey, we were part of that problem too so I take some responsibility. I hadn't seen so many asian tourists since the Hofbrauhaus in munich (good for them and I hope they had fun my point is it is just an international destination for lots of people).
