Anyone here a member at Red Eagle in Childersburg?

I enjoy shooting trap at Southern Skeet and Trap where I'm a member, but would like to head down there one weekend and shoot trap-- when they are not having an event, of course. Their website lists 3 trap fields-- anything I need to know about non-members shooting there? Is it best to call ahead?

Thanks.

Update- shot 3 rounds of trap there this afternoon-- the University of Alabama shooting team had my home range tied up for a few hours this afternoon, so I headed on down to Childersburg rather than wait for them to finish.

Nice range, nice folks. Only one other shooter was on the range while I was there, shooting skeet on the next field over.

It's a nice place. The Auburn University clay shooting team use to practice there but the drive was just awful up 280. We ended up homesteading at Dixie Trap and Gun Club below Pike Road.

Yeah, that's a bit of a haul up 280 from Auburn, can't blame you!

I've heard good things about Dixie down at Mathews- will have to get down there some weekend and shoot.

Bill Perry is the guy that helped start Red Eagle. Perry Funeral Homes. He was the first person in Alabama that was given a dealership by DuPont to sell Kreighoff Shotguns. Bill was a hell of a shot too! I watched him at a dove shoot years ago using a 410. The guy did not miss.

Been shooting at Red Eagle for years. Nice place and people and very welcoming to new and young shooters. Red Eagle is the home of the Alabama 4H shotgun sports and the Alabama SCTP Championship. It’s open 7 days a week for members from 9 am to 9 pm at 5 dollars per round for skeet trap or 5 stand. For non members it’s open Wednesday afternoon and Saturday and Sunday for 6 dollars per round if you have a hunting or fishing license or 8 dollars if for some strange reason you don’t. And yes Sunday from 11 til around 2 the Bama team is usually at Southern unless we are shooting sporting clays. We are headed to Ohio this week for SCTP Collegiate Nationals. Next time come up and say hello we don’t mind shooting Errr I mean shooting with Auburn folks;)😜

Took my Son several times for the 4H shoots, it was well organized and nice facility.
