God bless y'all! ole Dave looks wore slap out at the end when he's leaning against the tree ... in my feeble attempts at it, filming is a huge distraction/aggravation, in an endeavor that's already difficult enough!

I've only filmed others (they paid for it) and I don't enjoy it. But it does provide great evidence on how bad some people shoot.
I've thought about filming some hunts with my kids, but it seems like a hassle. Plus, I'm always complaining about everybody with their cell phones out instead of enjoying the moment so...

That is an epidemic....the last few concerts I've been to (pre-Covid), it was like a sea of cell phones recording. I was guilty of it too at the last Foo Fighters concert I went to. I thought "man I need to get a video of this...this is awesome", then about 10 seconds in I thought "what am I doing? the video quality is going to be terrible, there will be much better quality ones on youtube within 24hrs, and I'll miss actually *seeing* the show". So I put mine away, but there for TONS of people videoing the entire thing instead of actually *watching* the concert.

1. All Politicians Are Liars 2. All Gun Laws Are an Infringement 3. Taxation Is Theft
It can definitely be a hassle sometimes, and if you film long enough you will miss a few opportunities at some critters but when it all comes together and you get everything its awesome. I was filming my hunts for years just for the fun of it before I ever got to be part of a TV show and then now our little Youtube thing that me and my buddy do. It's always been fun to me to get it all on film. At least once a year I'll swear that I'm quitting because it's so much trouble but then the next time I go I'll be carrying all that extra junk.
It generally boils down to the quality of the video and if (as in most videos) you are the star or the hunt/game is the star. If you want something just to have a memory the set up is not much like a Sony handi cam and something to hold it if you are by yourself. If you want broadcast quality, yep a lot of stuff which means added weight, time and aggravation, or, only being the camera man. If you are like me, I'm there to avoid the extra weigh, time and aggravation and I am much better behind the camera than in front of the camera.

Exactly. I enjoy being the shooter some and being the cameraman some, and most of the times I'm both. But I'm a whole lot better behind the camera than I am in front of it.
I filmed 2 of the birds I killed last year. It’s a huge pain in the azz for the way I hunt. If I used decoys and camped out somewhere it wouldn’t be so bad. At this point, I only take it if I’m calling for somebody else. There is no way in hell I will ever let a bird get by me because of that camera.

100% agree with you, Austin - hunting solo, this is as close to "filming" a hunt as i care to get - and even this anemic recording was stressful enough i'm a post-mortem/tell the story filmer/hunter LOL this was done on my iPhone camera & stitched together using an app called Splice

No thanks. I turkey hunt because I love it. Not for the likes. Not for the attention. Screw YouTube and screw social media pimping out our public lands.
