I know our place is not the easiest to log and also I know that they are taking extra care to keep everything clean if that makes sense, so it's hard to compare one tract to another I suppose.

What is the difference between plantation logs and natural? This is just an educated guess so take that into consideration but I’m gonna guess it's the growth rate and the difference in the quality of the wood……Slower grown trees have tighter growth rings and better wood qualities.

I think stumpage prices to landowners usually go up in the winter, especially late winter due to fewer properties that can be cut during the wet season thus reducing supply.

However, I lost a good bit of timber here and there when Michael came thru so letting it stand until prices are perfect can bite you.

If I could sell pine pulp for $12/ton I’d sell it all. You can’t give it away right now in these parts. So much needs thinning but it’ll die and fall over before anybody gets it.

Looked at some lumber at marvins yesterday. 2x12x16 cost $96. Somebody is making some money. Brokers, wholesalers of finished lumber.
