Glad I'm not the only one. I sleep good so pretty sure I'm just a asshole. I've never been a people person but it seems to just get worse and worse. The older I get the more I enjoy the simple things in life and just want to be left alone

Also, I feel worse in general since the election!!! Wonder why??

Hang in there. There will come a time when you just don't give a chit anymore, when you realize that the only thing the anger is doing is hurting you, and it's not worth it. Laughing at the ridiculousness of other assholes, which makes THEM angry, is pretty good therapy.

I agreed and it has made a tremendous difference. My wife was the first to say what a difference it has made in my temperament. I thought it would make me a zombie but it's just the opposite. It just takes the edge off. I no longer sweat the small things. My marriage, relationship with kids and family has improved, co-workers don't hate to see me coming. I just enjoy life so much more. Wish I would've done it years ago! Ask your doctor, but know it takes 3-4 weeks before it starts showing a difference. Doc told me it takes time to adjust you body's chemical balance. But the biggest thing is do what's best for you, not what others may think.

I was on it years ago and quit. Well, as Chad said fuse was getting shorter and shorter and family was taking the hit. I got back on it and it took 2-3 months for me to "feel" leveled out. T levels also were on the floor si I got that back up. Biggest thing I need now is to find something that will help me focus better.

Best thing that I can tell you to do is go talk to someone about how you are feeling. I don't mean your doctor, I mean a counselor like a pastor or family counselor.

I finally swallowed my pride and went and talked to one after my family "encouraged" me to go. I was about 44 then, and I'm pretty sure those 7 or 8 meetings saved my marriage and possibly more.

We as people, are unable to clearly see what stress/pressure does to us. If you will talk to someone they have the ability to show you how you are thinking, and you will realize how misguided it might be.

I've been there, if you love your family, then go talk to someone because I promise it will help them too. Us guys around this age really have it difficult, and none of us like to admit it.

Faith in and leaning on the creator of the universe helps me a lot but what I also do is focus on the many, many, things the Lord has blessed me with. These blessings far, far, outweigh the negatives. Most of the time, these distractions (or aggravations) are only temporary. And most of the time, the attitude you take into the day is the one that will frame your day. Live in this day, in this time, loving on your family and making it clear to them through actions and not words, how much you love them.

Hang in there Chad, there are more of us going through this than you realize. Mine started about 7-8 years ago, same symptoms you are going through. I had just gotten a big promotion with lots more stress and responsibility, two boys under the age of 4, wife started having lots of health problems, etc. I did like others and went to see a counselor and a head doctor. I've been on an anti depressent ever since and it has made a world of difference in my life. I also had a sleep study done and have been using a CPAP since and it has also made a tremendous difference in how I feel. Do whatever you have to in order to be the best version of yourself, not only for you but for your family. Praying for you brother.

Some of it may simply be the season of your life. 45 is a pivotal age. You are not old and not young but you are beginning to realize you will never be president of the united states and the "old" is going to win. Its a watershed age.

Me too. The older I get the less patience I have with ahole people and bs in general. Probably just part of getting older. As far as anxiety I have found having some type of physical activity that makes you tired will help you get better sleep. I have also found not watching or listening to the news and crappy "journalists" who all have an opinion lowers my stress. I also recommend staying away from social media and listening to everyone else's bitching and problems. Hope this helps.

Same issue here. I do take meds for anxiety now. Another thing that has changed for me is I seem alot more claustrophobic now. Even getting in hearing exam booths now, the anxiety kicks in big time. Get a feeling like I am going to run out of air or something.

Several years ago I was asked to take a 10 week anger management course. Afte the 10 meeting's I kept going. Went almost 2 years once a week. The last year I basically taught it. Changed me life. More that likely saved it as well

I quit watching the news, I get so mad at the stupidity.

HBP, better learn to chill, the worst is yet to come.

Seriously, I take Clonidine for blood pressure. It keeps me pretty calm.

Man, this is ironic you point this out. For the last several years, if I see a video, picture or whatever of something or someone up high and the ground is way way below them, I get a sick feeling in my stomach. Used to climb like hell in a tree stand and it never bothered me.
