I can tell you that it sucks to the highest level. I ain't use to being contained and restricted. Being in a different cast every couple of weeks with zero weight bearing on a foot is going to work on my mental health. On top of this my wife will have hip replacement surgery in less than 2 weeks. Talk about a rough patch we are having. I know it always could be worse, so for that I am so very thankful. Just had to vent a little tonight.

I heard it has gotten a lot better now. I had it 30 years ago and was in a cast up to the top of my thigh for five months.

Hang in there, it’s got to get better.

I haven't had that one but have endured a few other procedures. Understand the frustration and aggravation. All I can say id good luck with it for both of you.

. Time to start reading more, maybe even order you a great set of binoculars to help with the mental part of convalescence, you may not can get out there, but the binos will help you see more.

I tore my Achilles maybe six years ago. I lay in the mud and rain for 30 minutes till I could try to get up. I had to pull myself upright on a chain link fence, then took 30 min to hobble 30 yards to the house. It took a damn month or more to quit hurting bad. Hope ya get well soon

I know this for a fact, having an ACL rebuilt in your knee the second time in two years ain’t for the faint of heart. 😳

I feel for you. Tore mine from my heel and my calf muscle about 5 years ago. Do everything the doc says. You are looking at a minimum of 4 months before you really can be normal. Therapy will suck or it did for me. I’ll be praying for you.

tore mine about 15 years ago and was in a cast for 3 months and not a walking cast. My leg swelled a couple times and I had to go in and get it recasted. They ran a wire from the bottom of my heel up through the top of the tendon and back down to keep it from streching the tendon. There was like a button at my heel and when they took the cast off the Dr. said he was going to remove the wire and that it was not going to hurt. He was wrong, I think he cut the wire and pulled the knot through. Any way it was not good. Sorry fir you.

I don't do very well cooped up inside so it's wore on me pretty bad. Getting the anastasia meds out of my system was hell. Staying awake 36+ hours and having to sit outside in my drawers because I was sweating so much (good thing I live way out away from people). Finding a position to get in ain't easy. You'd think a fat boy would like to sit on his ass but I usually stay moving so this is going to be a long road to go down. My mother had this surgery a few years ago so luckly I can use her knee scooter instead of crutches, which is a God send. Thanks for the thoughts and prayers.

My son has had microscopic tears in his AT. At 13 years old he make his dad worry. He always has to stretch and complains about it. Who did your surgery?

I can tell you who did mine. Dr. Norman Waldrop at Andrews sports medicine. I wouldn’t use anybody else to work on any part of my foot/ankle. I had what he said was the worst he’d ever seen and I’m able to do everything I wanna do except play basketball. And that’s just cause I’m scared to play because I wouldn’t want to go through what I went through again with the surgery.

I feel for you. I was and am very active and it was miserable sitting there with my foot propped up. No real movement at all for the first month except to bathe or use restroom. It’s a struggle but it’s necessary for the tendon to heal. I pray you don’t have some of the side effects of the surgery that I had. And also be careful on that scooter. I busted my rear several times wheeling around on that thing. When did you have the surgery?

I actually tried to turkey in my cast after my surgery. It didn't work out too well!

We have a orthopedic surgeon in Scottsboro, Dr. Hamidian. Done on the the 11th. And yea the scooter has it's advantages and disadvantages but I can tell you falling off it vs falling with crutches is less of a threat for me, so far. I guess I worry more about my wife's up coming surgery than my condition. I've had so many surgeries and she never has had any so I'm sort of use to dealing with these kinds of issues if that makes sense. Thanks for the concerns. I'm learning to deal with this long drawn out ordeal slowly.
