You picked a good bullet. From personal experience, stay away from ballistic tips or light cup and core bullets in that round. 165 and up and bonded bullets.

I have two 300 WSMs and have been very impressed with their accuracy. Have only tinkered with 150 gr bullets as the intent wasn't to push them to max velocities and the loads were focused on whitetail. My Winchester XPR (budget gun) will put five 150gr Sierra SBTs into 1/2" @ 100 yards, chronographed at 3120 FPS. My Savage HC loves 150gr Nosler Accubonds, five rounds into .25" @ 100 yards, chronographed at 3200 FPS. Very interested to see what either will do on whitetails given the opportunity.

Couple of tikkas and an Remmy 700. Bought several boxes factory ammo in 150/180 gr a couple of years ago and found that all 3 preferred the 150 nosler partition. Screaming fast, very flat and a heavy hitter.

I have a Tikka T3x 300wsm I bought last year. Shooting Winchester Deer season XP 150 ballistic tip. First deer shot at 50 yards behind the shoulder ran 20 yards. Entrance hole ya could put your fist through went through off shoulder and was just under the hide. Second deer 40 yards middle of the ribs because of him standing behind a tree.Ran 40 yards. Best gun ammo combo I've had.

I shoot Federal Fusion 150 grain out of my Savage HC and have been well pleased. Not had a deer run yet and some shots were 300+ yards.

I just ordered some 165gr Fusions. I expect them to perform well. These partitions did a number. If I can post a pic I will show the exit in the shoulder.

If you need to buy more partitions, I’ve got a box and a half I I would probably sell.

Still want a 300wsm....been on top of my list a long time

Got a tikka T3x laminate few years ago. Like all my other tikkas it shoots lights out. Been using the 180gr federal trophy tips as well as the federal copper. Great gun. Very very little recoil too. Something cool about that round. Lots of power in a small package.

I can’t speak for the short mag but the regular Ol 300 Win Mag has had similar results for me. DRT no wiggle.

I’ll add to this that a 7mag with a 160 gr partition will leave a fist sized exit wound. Lots of folks are against shooting the heavier grained stuff on southern deer but the results speak for themselves.

Something about a 30 cal that seems to leave a big ole exit. I have wanted this caliber in the past but never purchased.

That’s what I shot in that Tikka 300WM I had. The performed flawlessly.
