I have a 2001 Jeep Wrangler Sport with 4.0, auto transmission in it. My son drives it. The transmission has gone out.
The quote to replace with a rebuilt transmission from Jasper with 3 yr warranty is for $3,200, thats parts, labor, everything.

Is this a reasonable amount? I haven't replaced a transmission in years, so not sure if that is reasonable or not.

Thanks for any help you can give.

I would check the price of a jeep remain from the dealer most of the time it’s a better warranty and you can take it to any jeep dealer if you have a problem later .

That's just a little over what I paid 4 years ago for the same thing (I have '03 auto 4.0L).

Is that the best price? I had an 01' Jeep rebuilt about 5 years ago and it wasn't nearly that much. Shop it around. Call Mike at Centerpoint Transmission (205) 856-1670 and see what he says.

2.5 yrs ago paid $2300 for a Grand cherokee with a 4.7. 3 year 36k nationwide warranty . Everything around GA was very expensive ($4k) so I loaded it on my utility trailer and towed it to a local shop I trust in Missouri. There were a couple others that would have done it for $100-200 less but they weren't as handy for my timeframe.

Haley transmission in Pelham did my Tahoe about 8 yrs ago and came recommended by a good mechanic friend. Price was really good. I bought a Jeep 8 months ago and called them for a guesstimate on one for it just in case. Can’t remember the exact price but think it was maybe a little less than that.

Thanks for all the help guys. We got it figured out. We tried Haley’s in Pelham but they don’t work on that transmission anymore because parts are to hard to find.
