Gomer, for a few years i would purposely sleep late(till 7:00-7:30) then get up and go hunt. Granted, i am 5min from where i hunt. Seems like that 2hrs after the school bus ran and everybody left for work, when it got quiet around here, the bucks would go to running around.

Killed several on both ends of the day. Most of the season, I have no problem getting up to go early. But now is when I'd rather be lazy and wait for the evenings to go.

I’ve killed the majority of mine between 8-11. I will say the 3 biggest bucks I’ve killed as well as missed opportunities on some big ones have all been midday 10-2

Mornings by a long shot, 90% of the good deer I have killed are 0800 - 1000. Yesterday's buck was at 0915 in a 20 mph gale-force wind.

Probably a 60/40 split for me leaning more heavily to morning

Mornings, daylight to 10. I'm like most, I've killed them at all times, but mornings seem the best. If it ain't that big of a deal, deer hunting, just get up and go when you get ready, hunt the afternoon.

Maybe that’s why I don’t kill big bucks I hardly ever hunt the 11-2 time frame.

Probably 75% of the deer I’ve killed have been in the last 30 mins of light. most of the rest were between 9 and 10 am.

Mornings by far for me. If I could only hunt one hour in a given day it would be that last hour of light before dark. But where morning has such an advantage is the deer seem to move anywhere from first light until 10am. Outside of the rut, morning tends to have a big advantage for mature deer because you may catch one slipping back to his bed who misjudged the sunrise and stayed out too late. Most mature bucks will wait until after dark to come out into a field or food plot. Plus, if you kill one, you get to find him and clean him in the daylight instead of the dark.

Used to be mornings until we did some habitat changes "planted pines" about 7 years ago. Now its definitely evenings.

Seriously though, I have found there are some properties where you just mess things up by trying to be the great white hunter. All you got to do is sit back and not spook everything

I almost exclusively hunt mornings in the woods. I Guess I might be able to kill a few more if I start hunting afternoons. popcorn

Mornings, then mid-day, with evening being a distant third.

I hunt mornings and evenings equally which is just dumb considering what I just said.
