Anybody have any experience with a 2 row UTV? I have a Kubota RTV900 to work and roam around my place, but I have 3 kids ranging from 5-12 and sitting in laps is no longer doable. I have no desire to have a mud machine or racer, but the ability to drive it to my In-laws and wife's Aunt and Uncles (1/2 mile or so) or in the woods road to check traps or get a deer is more what I'm looking to go to. Basically a crew cab of what I have is what I want, however, I do desire a little more speed than the Kubota diesel offers. Just curious on your opinions or experiences. Thanks

I had an rtv. My buddy said I should just get rid of it and use his crew cab ranger. It is really nice to fit the kids, dogs, and deer in the crew cab. But, if I need to haul firewood and rock for dumping in ruts I do.miss the kubota.

I would at least get front and rear glass and the full roof. When I'm taking kids out it is a must just to keep the weather off them.

The crew cab rangers also ride so much smother than my rtv900.

my FIL has a 4 seater Canam Defender....had it for a few years now and it's been a good one. Don't know that he's had any issues out of it

EDIT: I think it's actually technically a 6 seater b/c it's 2 bench seats.

My friend was leaning toward the can am but he added many if the extras to his with aftermarket parts. His opinion was that the ranger just had so many more aftermarket products.

I've had a Kawasaki transmule and currently have a JD Gator S4. I like the gator better because it's faster(43 mph), rides better and handles mud better. The Mule was much cheaper new and was a complete workhorse. I would have no problem buying another Mule and for work/family rides it may be the overall better option.

My FIL has a roof, windshield, winch, radio, and more lighting than Bryant Denny Stadium. Only think I could see someone possibly wanting is a full cab kit and I'm sure one exists for them.

My guess was it had more to do with cost of aftermarket stuff.

I'll add that my duck hunting friends all have ranger crew cabs too. Several times a week they drive them in seat deep water out to their pits, use them to set up decoys out in the water, and sometime break the ice to open up water. So, they must be tough machines to handle the abuse.

Father just bought a Polaris Crew recently. It is way to go. It has windshield, winch, radio, navigational system and all that jazz. It will run as fast as you want it to go.

One downside to the crew cab (at least the ranger) is that the rear seat passengers get dusted to death when it's dry. And I'm talking about rangers with full back glass. It is almost impossible to ride around without getting all kinds of stuff in your eyes. I've thought many times about how nice it would be to take a ride but the ladies end up with water bottles being poured in the eyes. (ya know, because they can't be driving)

For the crew crew UTV, the best choices are Can Am or Polaris. Honda and Kawasaki Mule can be an honorable mention.

I chose Can Am defender crew cause I have buddies with them and they seem to handle the rice fields better than Polaris. They can haul anything and anyone. Haven’t seen a Honda in action in that environment.

But if you’re on deer club roads, ride/feel/price are probably going to be your driving forces.

I love my can am crew and have put it thru the paces for a couple of seasons now. Still adding accessories as money permits. Plenty of accessories available for either Can Am or Polaris.

One warning about the crew options: they aren’t nimble. turning around can be a challenge in tight places

I've had a Polaris 570 midsized crew ranger for 5 years or so. I haul 3 kids and my wife in it. We go through some pretty good mud in it while hunting, and it's never been stuck. There are faster machines out there, but I haven't found this one to be too slow. I got the one with the electric power steering. It's a must for the kids.

Due your due diligence - Go ride in all of them, preferably someone you know may have one of each. Each one has their own quirks and problems. The Kawasaki and Can Am I narrowed my choice down to after being in all the rest. The Honda has a quirky back end that folds up the back seats, I was afraid of crap getting down in there and trying to clean it out, thing of deer blood or small pea gravel. The Polaris scared me because of the problems I have read about. The Kawasaki, by yourself no help from the dealer or seller, try to take it from a double seater to a load bed when it is 30 deg. outside, or for that matter when it is 95, humid, and you're working. The John Deere did not appeal to me for maintenance. I went Can AM and haven't regretted it. I am not knocking any SXS or ATV, if you are fortunate to have one, that is great. As I said, all have their quirks, it is which quirks you are willing to live with on a daily basis.
