What is your greatest outdoor/ hunting related moment with a child. It could be your child or someone else's. I can remember when Tim and Ashley killed their first deer and when Tim killed his first turkey and when they won their first archery trophy. But for me there's nothing that could top when Tim and I got to shoot together at Buckmasters. I far as I know we are the only father and son to shoot as a team. There have been other fathers and sons that have competed against each other but not with each other. I could win Buckmasters or kill a world record animal and it wouldn't top that day.

He looks nervous in this one but not as nervous as I was.

Tim knocking those targets down.

We had just finished the last round.

And this is my favorite picture of Tim. One day I'm gonna get someone to draw a portrait of it.

For some of you, your children are grown and making memories with their own children. And for others, your children are still young and you have the opportunity to make lasting memories with them. But for some of us, our children have gone on to be with the Lord and all we have are the memories. So if you have a story please feel free to share it, I'd love to hear it.

Sitting in the shooting house with my youngest girl (now 14 yrs old) when she killed her first deer in 2017...I think I was more excited than she was. I wasn't able to be with my oldest when she killed her first deer (I was working and she went with my dad)

when my daughter was 9 she was too little to hold the gun up so we laid on the ground with the gun on a mound of dirt. it was 18degrees out when she said she saw a buck looking at us from the side. I didn't see anything but told her to shoot it. well she stood up and moved the gun to another mound of dirt and I was pretty sure the buck was gone by then. but then the gun went off in front of my face and I did hear something run off. we looked for a while and didn't find blood till later I saw a white belly on the ground but kept quite about it. I then told her that there probably wasn't a deer at all or she missed and we needed to go home. I let her lead the way but lead her by the deer which she found. It wasn't the monster buck she was telling me it was, but it was a nice tall six pointer.

Got a bunch of them. We had been seeing a piebald doe for 3 years on a lease I had with my parents. We wouldn’t shoot her and were saving her for my son Hunter. The second time he ever sat alone, she came out and he got her.

We traveled all over the place shooting archery tournaments. He had top 3 finishes in 3 ASA Pro/Am’s when he was 7 and he won the ASA Southern Regional that year. We both won BHA state championships in the same year. At the time he was the youngest to ever qualify for the Buckmasters Top Bow World Championship (back when we actually had to shoot a qualifier). Little turd wound up beating me by 2 points at the world championship.

He just turned 27 on Christmas Day and will graduate pharmacy school at Samford in May. Needless to say he hasn’t had time to do much hunting the past few years. This was at his white coat ceremony.

Being w my nephew for his first 2 deer an 8 and a decent 6 - I remember when the 8 fell in it tracks and I had explained how we may hav to track we may hv to sit and wait to track - deer went straight down - instant high 5 ing and I picked him up off ground I was so excited and he was excited as I was
Had similar feelings w my son - but he does not like it like me or my nephew did - doing some of the things he likes more now too

It’s weird to say. Not a deer story. Hunting with my step son last year. We were at the farm and he is too young to carry one of my rifles. I decided he had a better chance it’s buckshot. We were setting in my favorite ladder stand. All of a sudden noise to the right. I turn and it’s a big raccoon. She is walking a log. Poor thing has lost fur and really looking weird. He locked down and boom. His first kill. I suspect rabies. Let it be.

It’s funny what they Will like - took son on turkey hunt - neighbores cows had got out - we were in a ground blind - day breaks and cows are walking right by our blind - I put my hands in my head completely pissed and trying to hide some of my frustration

He starts saying man this is cool and I was thinking what the heck are u talking about - I played along w it

He still remembers that hunt and speaks fondly of it - asked me if I remember it - I am like - oh yea - I remember - I guess he liked seeing a big animal up close

I was with my son when he killed his 1sr deer (doe) out of a ground blind when he was six. 15 years later, he killed his 1st deer with a bow (doe) on his 1st bow hunt. Out of a tree where the ground blind was all those yrs earlier, the tree was about 12' high when he was 6. I was in a tre 20 trds away.. opening day of bow season this year, he killed his 1st buck with a bow out of that same tree. I again was 20 yrds away. Thursday he killed his racked buck (8 pt) from the same tree. I unfortunately was at work but, watched much of the hunt unfold on my moultrie cell cam that caught the deer walking in, and caught my son walking up to that 1st good deer.

So many I wish I could relive them all over and over.

1st deer, 1st gobbler, 1st hog, 1st offshore fishing....etc. I am very thankful for every moment and every memory.

Everyone of them! I kind of like when their hunting trips turn into mud wrestling with friends. This was at a dove hunt a few days ago.

I was with both of my sons for their first deer, first turkey, first dove and duck. All of these are days i'll never forget. But last weekend I got to watch my grandson get his first goose. I can't explain how great it is to see the next generation loving these sports and how proud he was. Man, what a day.
