Number of dead deer just tells you how many dead deer you have, tells nothing of the remaining deer herd. Only gives a piece of the puzzle.

Exactly. He's banging his head against a wall with no proof that compliance is anywhere near as low as 30%. He wanted data and the data is saying that there are a lot less deer getting killed than his own "kill more does" strategy for this state can justify. So instead of admitting the deer population is too low in most of the state, he blames "lazy" and "paranoid" hunters for not using his app enough.

And the reports from the over loaded processors just keep coming up but I personally know lots of people do their own. I would just guess that 65% of the people honestly report their harvest but the 35% that don’t kill as many or more than the 65% that do. Just my guess and 10 years ago I would have cheated myself in all likelihood.

You younger guys really missed out when hunting was fun. We had a tremendous deer herd in the 70's and killed some fine bucks. A lot of soybeans, you shot very few if any does, a buck a day, liked the folks that made/enforced the common sense rules, etc. There were some BIG bucks killed and no social media. A few pictures would be at the feed store and everybody knew how to process a deer. There were NO deer processing places. You had a few butchers that would cut and wrap. Good times.

A “trend line” does though…….Let’s say we keep up with it for ten years and in that time every year shows roughly 100K deer killed…..give or take a few thousand……Well, that tells us that there are at least enough live deer in the woods to support us killing 100K annually…..That’s a “sustained yield”…..If numbers are on a steady decline then it tells you we are killing more than the herd can support or that possibly hunter attitudes are changing, etc......You need the participation to remain fairly constant though in order to be able to accurately see that I do believe

It would probably be a really good way of doing things if hunters were all robots…….It’s the human relations aspect of it that’s killing them……Now they’re going with the strategy of trying to strong arm the "rebels" of Alabama……You’ve picked the most stubborn group that’s most likely to dig their heels in to try and force something upon…..bad skrategy in my opion.

I honestly think I could come up with a system that would work taking all things into consideration……Unfortunately though the reality of that happening is no better than just pipe dreaming

the fastest, easiest, and maybe cheapest way is the way the Feds do their H.I.P. cards. You have to enter last years data to get this years card. 100% compliance on data being entered...and no damn criminal prosecutions. Data is a year out but Chucks data is so far or worse. This way was recommended at the first but Chuck said no, he had a better way. Pffffft.

Where can the public go to see the numbers for this year?

We have to give a harvest number when we take deer to the processor in FL too. I guess it’s a recent development too. Took a doe day FL doe to a processor before Christmas and had to give them the confirmation number off FL online reporting receipt I got and my general information. An inconvenience for me but I felt bad for the poor processor who had to document everything by hand and retain. Guess he kept everything in case FWC checked him. From what he explained to me it’s only going to get worse in the future. Always something and always defies common sense. rofl

How can he be poor? He had a hunting tv show with his dog on Outdoor Channel I think. Did the money all go to the dog? rofl rofl I guess he had to divest himself of the Management Advantage tv show when he took his current job. I can’t see how he could be poor on tv. That show ran for several seasons and obviously a sponsor of this forum still in existence. Not sure if Current Management Advantage is still on TV though they have a great e newsletter. But I digress! Carry on. rofl rofl rofl

Here’s my new proposal for when I become king……… grin

Statewide

Oct 1 - Feb10..... ..Bow (Either Sex)
Oct 1-10..... ...... ....Muzzleloader (Buck Only)
Feb 1-10 ..............Muzzleloader (Buck Only)
Nov 18 - Dec 25….Rifle Season (“Doe Days” implemented in certain counties)

No Does Statewide until Nov 1…….

That’s it…..no game check, no three buck limit, nothing to fill out after killing a deer
