Requiring processors and taxidermist to collect the numbers this year has got to increase the rate of compliance in my opinion.
I agree with you.......So what if we get to the end of the season and the total number of deer reported killed is about the same as the previous years? It should go up if compliance was that low....

“It’s laziness,” Sykes said. “About 15 percent of them are wearing tinfoil hats and looking for black helicopters. But the rest of them just don’t want to do it.”
Quack quack.

Chuckie is basing his numbers off reported deer. What Chuckie don't want to admit is that the deer population is way lower than all his folks think it is. I guess I get counted in the number of hunters each year because I have a lifetime license. I quit hunting 3 years ago because my son was bored out of his gourd because we weren't seeing any deer. I use to see deer a good bit, so I either became a worse hunter the longer I hunted, or the deer population decreased. Good thing we still have fish to catch.
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

Hunting just shouldn’t be this complicated. I’m sick of game check and I’ve haven’t killed a deer in this state since it was implemented. I understand what DCNR is trying to do but there has to be a better way of doing it.

Just an FYI, that article is over 2 years old. It’s not recent. Matt, You are correct. I did not see the date when I first saw the article tonight on FB. I just copied the link and posted it here. After reopening the link I saw the date. Nevertheless, I had never seen the article until tonight so I'm sure there are others that had never seen it as well. I would hope that the compliance numbers would be a little better now, two years beyond the article.

“As poor as I am, I’ve hunted out of state and I’ve been tagging deer and taking deer to check stations for more than 20 years,” Sykes said.”
Wish I was poor enough to do out of state hunts for 20 years. My thoughts exactly

I hate any government entity giving me orders on what to do on my own land because they certainly did nothing to help me work and buy it but I am still going to report the deer I kill. It’s really easy and I think it going to prove that there are not nearly as many deer killed as the state has always claimed and I really believe the kills are getting fewer every year. Sure there are places with too many deer but overall I really don’t think the popish as high as the state claims. February hunting in north Alabama is crazy and I now it’s a choice to go but lots of people are going to go as long as the season is open. I don’t like chuck sykes condescending attitude either for what that’s worth. He does give the impression that land owners and seniors will be pressed on a little harder in the future. Forcing processors and taxidermist to only take animals with a check list numbers is a beginning step on tougher laws. If the numbers are closer to accurate than not, then I wouldnt be surprised to see a season change. They could start checking for license numbers if you purchase a skinning knife, bramble or processing equipment.
