If he can get some O line recruits he has a chance to succeed. And get a QB to play the position and not run around like a chicken with its head cut off. IMO, those positions are what Gus failed at, especially O line.

He will be given the time to recruit and build, His press conference sold me on him..

I watched Malik Willis last night lead liberty to the win over coastal. If Gus would have kept him at Auburn and played him he would still be there. I was watching him and thinking of nick Marshall. He would have Saban scratching his head trying to defend him.

I think AU is desperate. Why fire a coach and pay that much money to hire someone at Harsin's level. Obviously he wasn't AU's first or second choice. He was chosen after many other coaches passed on the offer. From an outsider's perspective, it appears that the atmosphere there is a bit toxic. Perhaps Harsin right's the ship, but the deck is stacked against him. He has to face the toxicity that is AU at this time. Not sure if it is the boosters, AD, or what but I'd bet on it being the high end boosters. AD seems legit. I don't want to lose to AU, but I think Bama and CFB is better with a legitimate AU team. I almost thew up in my mouth.

I think Harsin will be a good coach. Too early to tell how good he will be. I especially like it because the boosters were not too happy with this pick. The boosters tried to get them to hire Kevin Steele or someone else within the Auburn network but the AD told them to go kick rocks. The problem with Auburn has always been the amount of influence the boosters had, I am glad they are finally getting put in their place. Only time will tell on Harsin but he has done very well with developing quarterbacks and the offense in general. He has also been very successful at Boise State, but only time will tell if he is able to recruit in the SEC.

You have to give them credit for thinking outside the box on this hire. Time will tell.

This hire drew lines in the sand at AU, with Gouge and Green on one side and the money guys on the other. They will go after Green first and insert their guy as AD then go after Harsin. This scenario would give Harsin at least 4 years IMO and that's about what he should get. It's not just the record that sank Gus, it's how and when he lost most of the time. Gus was a 4-5 loss guy and with the exception of 2013 has averaged just that. He was 3-5 against Bama and LSU and 2-6 vs UGA. And a lot of those losses were fugly! I think Harsin is exactly what AU needed, a fresh start with someone who does not have ties to the school or boosters.
