Im low on 30-06 ammo and thinking about going back to one to hunt with the rest of the season. Ive got 2-3 boxes of 30-30 and 300 mag that I know longer have guns for that I would like to trade for. I also have a lot of 17hmr. I might could part with a couple boxes of 308 but prefer to keep it as I have one and still hunt with it. Located in Hartselle, AL

if you can't work anything out with someone I can pull those 30-30 bullets and reuse them and the primers to load 30-06. Then can use the 30-30 powder for 7.62x39. I have a lot of powder and brass for 30-06 (4895). 46g of it with either of the 30-30 bullets makes a very good deer shooter. Nothing difficult to do just takes a little bit of time. Would need the rifle to check chambering.

Shoulda posted this last week. I gave my buddy 2 boxes of 150gr corloks that was given to me. I sure could use them 30-30s.

I have a box of Federal that I just used to sight it in with so have 14 more rounds of it. It will probably get me through. I also have a couple boxes of the older Winchester Ballistic tips, one in 150 and one in 168 grain. I know I've heard bad stories about them when they don't work. Kind of like rage they're great until they're not smile I also found some accelerator rounds but honestly never heard of them or really know what they're made for. I just was hoping someone have a couple boxes plus they might have a need for what i have. Thats a lot of trouble to swap stuff around for you.

That would have been good with me. I may be interested in other calibers also. I just have plenty of 308 and 270 which are the other 2 guns we mostly use. I could probably use a little 243 or maybe 22 mag

Not really - could do 20 rounds in about 30 minutes. I do it all the time with old military rounds. Glad to help if I can.

I don’t think you want to use those accelerator rounds on deer. If they are what I’ve seen before, they are a .224 bullet in a plastic sabot that fires out of a 30.30 or 30.06 cartridge. They were for getting the fastest speeds for varmint hunting. Although if you smack a deer in the head with one it would likely be explosive. Also they were known for poor accuracy from the little experience I had.

I agree, I didnt realize I had them. I had never seen any before. I could tell they werent for deer. I figured it was a varmint round.

It’s crazy. They have load data for that accelerator in a 300 weatherby magnum. It lists a speed of 5300fps. Barrel burner there.

I’ve got a few mil-spec match 30-06 & 308, that I’d gladly pull-neck size-&-insert some great deer hunting pills in for trade. Hit me with a pm, or text me if’n you’re interested.

Or...you can come to my place and we’ll load and test. I have a 50-100-& 200 yard range complete with lead sled for tests.
