Tally Ho is back open for dining in...decent little restaurant for Selma. headed out there tonight. last time we went, pre-freak out days, the ribeye was decent.

wife got the shrimp scampi. Pretty laid back bar. if you're in town, I recommend it.

I'll follow up with a review after tonight's visit, see if anything changed.

UPDATE / review

had dinner, got there about 7:20ish, went to the bar first. might have been 10 people in there. 2 bartenders. fast service. TVs didn't work and the bartenders had no idea how to get anything on TV.

went to the table, surly hostess sat us. (unknown name but she clearly wasn't happy and didn't want to be there) no menus, no greeting, no water, no nothing.

we sat for 10-12 minutes, I finally got up went to the front desk where grandma was counting the money..I said, how long does it take to get a menu? she shoved a couple of paper menus at me and grunted something about the hostess.

I ordered the ribeye with red potatoes and a salad, wife got shrimp and grits. we both got a glass of the house red wine. Elizabeth was our server, MUCH better, more friendly and took our suggestions. she said the surly hostess just had her "weave" done..if you know what I mean.

The food saved the night. man my ribeye was good. really good. I like them thicker, but this one was cooked and seasoned perfect. potatoes were good too. wife shrimp was delicious also, hot and fresh, seasoned well. great food all around. if you can get past the crappy service (except for Elizabeth) it was a good event.

my wife says I'm an a$$hole, but I kinda know what good restaurant service is. and don't mind tipping well for it. we'll go back...

And the BBQ is unremarkable as well.

The sandbar is the only other place we ever eat in Selma.

And it’s just Sysco truck mostly fried stuff.

I went Friday night and was really looking forward to it. We ordered the grouper and the ribeye cooked medium. The ribeye came out well done, border line jerky. I’m not so sure that my grouper wasn’t actually a carp that someone found floating down the Alabama River. Tally Ho used to be my Friday night dinner spot when I came into town to hunt. I really hated that we didn’t have a good experience. Hopefully they can work out the kinks and don’t belly up like most of Selma.
