looking for recommendation for a battery powered saw to keep in my Xterra for cutting fallen trees out of road, mainly when hunting. had to walk and extra 1/2 mi. last weekend to deer stand because of a leaning 10' pine. don't want to haul a gas saw around and smell gas all day. any first hand experience appreciated.

We have the Husqvarna 120i saw.

I'd buy it again in a second.

I like my Ryobi stuff.
The little saws are $68 right now.

The Dewalt is $99

all at Home Depot

I have a barn full of Stihl stuff. I wanted to try a battery saw before spending Stihl money, so I bought the Ryobi 40V. It, a spare battery, and a spare chain now stay in the Jeep. Since then, we've also bought one of their electric pole saws, blowers, and trimmers. The wife wanted the trimmer and blower for the sidewalks at home. I've NEVER found gas units that she couldn't figure out how to tear up. She hasn't killed the Ryobis yet.

I have several buddies that have the Kobalt and nothing but good things to say about it.

I grabbed a deal on the Bauer chainsaw at Harbor Freight on day and honestly it's like a little toy, but I will say this it has never failed me and has always worked great.

I bought mine for the same reason you are buying yours. We live on an improved Forest Service road up here at the cabin and you never know when you are headed out if there's going to be a fallen tree over the road.

I bought a kobalt 40v pole saw about 18 months ago. I love that handy little sucker. Liked it so much I bought a kobalt string trimmer. I haven't cranked up my stihl farm boss since I bought the kobalt saw. I keep it in my cart or truck about all the time. Battery life is impressive

I have a 80 volt Kobalt that is great. Cuts good with a 18 inch bar . Was worried about battery life till used it . You will be ready to set it down before battery quits. No you will not cut ricks/cords with it --but it does a good job for homeower
use

I have a dewalt pole saw and its great, best part is I can use the batteries for everything. Leave a battery in your truck for a couple weeks this winter and you will likely have no battery.

Have the Kobalt that also attaches to a pole to make it a two in one tool. Battery will last longer than I want to cut on any day. No gas, push button cranking, light and easy to use.

I have a Makita battery operated chainsaw. I like it because it uses the same batteries as everything else. Make no mistake it’s no substitute for a good gas saw but for the need described it’s great

Makita 36 v (2 x 18 volt batteries)

Works great. Will not replace a large gas saw, but will do very well for a lot of jobs.

I have a Milwaukee M18 Fuel series. It’s awesome. I wouldn’t head out doing a tree job with it but it fits in the toolbox of my truck and is great for small jobs

Dewalt 16” 60v flexvolt has been great so far. I looked hard at the EGO 18” and would have gone for that but I opted for the dewalt because I can use the battery for other tools
