If the cheap stock disappoints you, the wood laminate is awesome. I have one in .300wsm. Just like the Sako Grey Wolf but much less expensive.
I own 2 Ruger Americans and 3 Tikkas. To be fair, my Tikkas are the $$$ ones so I can not compare stocks. Nothing wrong with the Ruger Americans but they are no where even close to the gun the Tikka is.
Goat killer, there is plenty of room for that discussion. Ruger Americans are not junk. As a matter of fact, probably the Best Buy for a low cost rifle. But they are not as good as Tikka and damn sure not as good as the T3x veil wideland.

I own a Grey Wolf.......I've messed around with a handful of Tikkas.........a Tikka is not "just like" a Sako. Tikkas are good rifles. Sako is in a different category.

I get it...... but then at some point you realize that wood stocked Tikka, that is still cheaply made.... cost you $800-850, or more, and you could have got something better.
It's not junk, nobody is saying that. But they also are not the best rifle made by any stretch of the imagination. They are the blueprint for a cheap mass produced firearm in this era.
It's a lot like the 6.5 Creed of firearms. Lots of hype from the owners. Much ado about nothing to everyone else.
If you had a Tikka chambered in 6.5 Creed and a Vortex scope on it you might have hit the trifecta.
No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

Yeah you are right they where designed to be mass produced cheaper made rifles.tikka was very innovative and uses a tubular shaped piece of steel to make the actions.they took the best of several designs and mated that to a easy to produce tubular reciever and now all these cheap Tikka/savage economy rifle copies have came out.tikka are made to tight tolerance though very consistent quality.like Glock they are still the best at what they do in that type gun

Ain't this the dang truth. Never would I put tikka and vortex in the same context for quality and value and performance. My opinion!

There are Vortex scopes, then there are Vortex scopes..................................the cheap, low-end stuff like the copperhead and diamondback scopes might as well be an entirely different brand/company than the Razors....

So you would equate copperhead and diamondback scopes from vortex with a base model tikka? I don’t think so

I paid 500 for mine back in the day. Money well spent at the time.

Simmons still has T3x for $580 including the almighty 6.5CM. The price on the base models really haven’t moved much at all over the past 15 years.
They just came out with more expensive models cause some guys like Tikkas but don’t want to feel like they are settling for a “budget” guns and would rather tell their friends about their $1K tikka with cerakote and sponge painted looking stock that has new catchy name.
You're only as good as your worst shot-

The Veil Wideland or Alpine comes with a 5/8"x 24" threaded heavier barrel with a factory muzzle brake it's more than just a catchy name. The standard Tikka 3x does not. Is it worth the extra cost for a heavier threaded barrel I think so.There is not any push feed bolt action rifle in the world smoother than Tikka or Sako.

They’re all based on a long action no matter what caliber you get.
Yup...that's my problem with them. Had a .308 that I never shot and sold it. Now have a .243 that I bought new 2 or 3 years ago and have never shot it. Can't get past the long action crap in short action calibers. Kinda defeats the whole purpose. Let me know when you wanna sell the .243.
Don't blame me for your bad decision-
