Summit 180 max here, comfortable, and safe. I also have a buckshot which isn’t bad either but I usually grab the 180.

Treewalker and older (20+ yrs) API grand slams Summit surround seats installed on the APIs
I couldn’t imagine what you would have to do to make one slip. Rock solid stands.
I'm 55 yo and I actually have 3 of the older Grand Slams. Tough to beat them when you factor in comfort, ease of use, and safety. I was Leary of the chains to start with but I don't know anyone that has had one malfunction in the 20 or so years that I've used them. I've never had one slip even a few inches and I climb Poplars and oaks pretty often. I'm not going up a shagbark hickory in any climber but I have climbed white oaks a few times. Also the bottom of a grand slam is very light and easy for bad knees to pull up.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. I had a Summit 180 Max and gave it to my SIL and bought a Goliath. Both are really nice stands for a big'un. The reason I got away from the 180 Max is I thought I read in the manual NOT to sit on the rail when climbing. That can be done with the Goliath. If I remember the book that came with the 180 Max, you were to climb using the sit-and-climb method, but were to move the seat out onto the rail and use it for climbing. I understand not everybody reads or follows the instruction manual and that this was several years ago.
Confirmed - In the on-line manual for their larger stands there is a WARNING block that states:
On the 180 Max you must sit in the seat and face the tree to climb.. DO NOT sit on the front bar while climbing.

Probably because the front is so far out from the tree the leverage created could potentially overload the cable. Plus with it being so far from the tree it could make for some sketchy climbs for shorter folks.

Lone wolf if you actually feel like walking a ways. I can actually stand to walk a mile or two with it on my back if I want to go scouting, other stands are way too big to do that very effectively. I will fully admit other stands are probably a bit more comfortable, but the way it packs up and lays flat on your back makes it the best stand on the market. Which Lone Wolf climber are you recommending? I am looking at the Hand and Sit n Climb.. cant make a decision.

It's all personal preference. If your looking for a treestand, try to lay your hands on as many different kinds that you can find. Maybe even climb in them during the summer if you know enough people who have different stands. Make your own choice. What's right for me or somebody else might not be right for you. I had a API for 20 years and had no issues. I just wanted something different so I bought a treewalker. I absolutely love the stand. Most comfortable stand I have ever sat in. It is a little on the heavy side but that doesn't bother me.

How big a fella are you? If you want a minimal stand that’s light get a lone wolf sit and climb. If you want a rail get a summit which is bulkier and a little more weight but is more comfortable. The size of the summit (viper/Goliath/Titian) depends on question number one.
I’m not a big feller and I move around hunting spots a lot I have carried a lone wolf sit and climb for a few years and like it very much. I have a viper but haven’t used it much since getting the LW

There are other more comfortable & lighter stands out there but its hard to beat a summitt for safety / quietness . Cougar claws are a tad lighter & good safe stands also. Another vote for the Cougar Claw. I'm sure Summit is just as good, though I've never hunted from one. But both are built about the same from what I've seen.

I use the sit n climb with the "flip top" seat, so it sets like a lock on when you get to your desired height. It keeps you perched up so you can sit shooting easily or can stand with very little effort and flip the seat back. The seat cushions they sell are atrocious and I had to strap a honeycomb gel pad up under it so my butt wouldn't go numb. That's my one knock against them. Lone wolf says they are "your silent partner" on the bottom part of the stand and it ain't a lie. I've climbed trees in the dark near bedded deer and they didn't spook, they just heard me scratch up the pine tree a bit on my way up probably thought I was a coon. Climb an oak and you can be literally ninja silent with them.
