I have two of the “new” cans. I took a pair of needle-nose pliers and ripped out the “congressional” valve. Works like a champ now!

I bought a bag of them yellow vents that are in the old cans. I just drill a hole in the new can and push the vent in. Then buy me one of those nozzles. Good as an old can. ^^^This. Got my spout from Tractor supply. Had to use the threaded ring that came on the crappy can because it was different from the 2 that came from TS. Gas can people used a non standard ring to keep people from removing the safety device. Whoever designed those new gas cans needs their ass beat. I know they have never used a gas can. Probably some hippie from California who rides a bike to work. I have also seen other people use a 5 gallon bucket as a gas can.

Rural king has a 5 gallon red can called a UJug, It's not an official gas can but looks like one. Has spout and a vent without all the fancy contraptions. I've got mad and thrown a few of the new fangled ones away. I can't tell you how excited I was to find it. I feel Like Im beating the man. I couldn't locate that U jug on RK's website , can you give more info or a link please.

Get a jiggle hose from harbor freight. Dont need any of the spouts. Best thing I done to rid myself of the aggravation of all the new spouts. Ain’t that the movie Rob Schneider was in?

Poke a hole and use a nail to close the hole. When you go to pour, remove the nail. A Golf tee is perfect for closing the holes. You guys are dead on. I bought a "ventless" can. One afternoon of sitting in the sun while I was mowing, the seam split.

I actually don’t understand what was wrong with the old cans. Why did they ban them? I mean it’s (was) a plastic can that holds and dispenses gas. What possible benefit was added by these new nozzles and lack of vent. Money. Regulations, money, EPA geeks justifying their useless jobs, money. The green movement is appropriately named because it's the color of money. Lawsuits. Stupid fools doing stupid things with gas cans. Then the stupid fools wouldn't accept they did something stupid & saw dollar signs. The stupid fools filed lawsuits & found stupid jurys to award stupid settlements. The Blitz fuel container company was put out of business because of stupid people, stupid lawyers & stupid jurys.
