everything you do? I know tons of guys that film hunts and fishing trips. Some are good, most are a waste of time. Are you wearing a camera too? Lets hear how many of you are, How much do you have invested in this ?

I take many photos and videos with my phone(video capable camera on occasion still) to share with others. Butvthat hppens when I've already determined I'm not shooting what's in the frame.

I fooled around with it last year. Filmed 2 kills. To much crap to tote for me and turns hunting into more of a job than something I do to relax.

I was referring to guys with GoPros. I know Southwood7 seems to have a pretty successful and informative channel onYoutube. I never have watched any of them, but he always draws a lot of interest with his threads here.

I do a lot of filming for a tv show and for me and my buddies youtube channel but I don't ever have a camera mounted on me. I'll use go pros attached to my gun or on a mount connected to the tree but havent used one on myself. We mainly use our regular Sony cameras for the majority of our stuff and just use the gopros for second angle stuff. And yes, it is a lot of crap to carry around and have to setup everytime you go, but it's all worth it being able to go back and watch stuff that I've filmed. Especially now with the kids hunting more, they love going back and watching their hunts.

What kind of setup do you have? I am finally going to make the dive into this and there is so much conflicting info out there. Mainly looking for opinions on camcorder (4K, manual focus, xlr inputs, zoom strength, etc), lapel mics, shotgun mics, LANC remote, fluid heads, cam arms and tripods, and lastly, editing software. Trying to do what I can not to drop $2500, but I haven’t found a way yet.

The problem with most people that want to be YouTube stars is that they try to create content that they think is “good” instead of just documenting what they do and continually giving it. “ Document, Don’t create” is they way to win when it comes to recording and putting out content. I watch all kinds of junk on YouTube because it interests me and what all of it has in common is that it’s some guy or girl that is authentically documenting whatever they are doing. I’d rather watch guys like us who wear ragtag camo walking thru the woods and etc than I would some guy who keeps dropping names of his “sponsors” while in his 10k dollar shooting house.

The fool tells me his reasons; the wise man persuades me with my own.

I’ve tried it some throughout the years and it’s a lot to fool with. It’ll cost you critters too.

Good to hear from you perch, hope you're better. I will take still shots of downed deer to show kin, but don't post anything online.

Filming some of the deer I see has broken me of the notion that I have to shoot them. Filming a nice buck and not shooting it then being able to show it to the guys I hunt with is almost as good as shooting it. It makes it much easier to pass them up and get to our goal of only shooting mature bucks.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

With all of the camera out, there are sure a lot less 150" bucks seen today.
