It is ABSOLUTELY NOT their job. It's called an unfunded state mandate and it's pure horseschit!

Not enough.
Come to think of it, maybe I can get behind this new plan after all.

And what happens when you need to drop it at the processor and don't have phone service or the app crashes? you'll have to haul the deer home for the night

Check it as soon as you kill it and you'll run through service somewhere before you get to the processor or use their wifi when you get there.

not trying to be complicated, but do you realize how many older folks kill deer. A lot of them still have flip phones or wouldn't even know how to get to a website or app if their life depended on it. They don't even text, haha Plus, Macon county Alabama has a 32% poverty level...lots of phones are not always up and running smile

That's my dad, straight up. Still using a flip phone, and don't even know what www means. He'll buy a license and he'll obey the law, but somebody will have to do it for him.

Shana, I understand your frustration with this but there are enough outlaws out there to cause grief for the honest hunters and processors. I also understand the state wanting better harvest #s for management. I would guess most processors are never as busy as you on your slowest day. You can setup a computer for the customers without the smartphone to Game Check their harvest when they get there. It would take 2-3 minutes with their hunting license or CID#. It's not convenient for you but at least you won't loose the business. Also your regular customers that are planning to bring their deer to you can email you the confirmation # when they Game Check their deer in the field and you can have their paperwork waiting when they get there. I hope I don't come off as not caring but it's just the businessman in me trying to work around problems.

You're still missing the point! Enforcement is NOT THE PROCESSORS RESPONSIBILITY!!!!!!!!
This bullschit is purely an unfunded state mandate and a cheap ass attempt to force someone else to do THEIR DAMN JOB!!!

Processors are not Law Enforcement Officers and are not qualified to be Law Enforcement Officers. Its just that simple.

I carry a sharpie, sandwich bags, zip ties, and post cards in my hunting stuff. Write name and state required info on 2 cards put them in the sand which bags. Zip tie one to the antler and 1 to the back leg. That way nobody can say it isn't legal.

Glad I have done this too because I've only seen a game warden 5 times in my life and 3 were in the last 3 years.

Sure sounds easy but since they are doing away with the 1-800 number you will need a smart phone with app or carry a computer with you. Many folks do not have a phone that is able to receive the "game check number". How do you suggest they get the number?

From the app. It's not difficult. I've checked 13 I think since they started game check and have not had a single hiccup. Even when I didn't have signal, I still entered the deer and on my way to the processor, I got signal and it went through and I received confirmation.

Yep, I got a flip phone. But, I know how to process a deer. Total crap and 2020 is the worst freaking year I can remember.

Where I hunt I get zero signal until I get to the main road. So paper is my only option.
