Has anyone been? I’ve never hunted this early. Going to be on a place that is mostly overgrown cow pasture with some hardwood draws. I’ve seen the land once but didn’t really do much scouting. One place is loaded with white oaks but I doubt they will be dropping. Any suggestions? Gonna be fun just thinking about a chance at a velvet buck.

Thermacell and plenty of bottled water. I’d hunt the heck out of those old fence rows around the pasture. White oaks are usually the 1st to start dropping so maybe you’ll get lucky and a few will have started to fall.

Velvet wall hanger is on my bucket list. Good luck!

I'm planning on hunting with my nephew outside Nashville.. Gonna cost me a lot of money if I get a nice one since I can bring the head back to AL unless it is mounted or otherwise taken care of...

The first is a given! Might even take a little fan! LOL.

Same here. But I'm not going to hold out for a monster if i get a chance at a nice racked velvet buck.

I've thought about that too. I think i'll try to cape/clean it up enough to get it back to AL and my normal taxidermist.
