Exactly, having a place just to go shoot a doe for meat is not worth having to kill some thug over. Tool box incident happened the first year we had it while we were in there with the tractors planting. Nothing for the next few years then the last year was when my cousin's window got busted out. We deemed it at that time to not be worth it. That and the last year was the same fall that Shane was murdered over there and anytime someone went in to hunt it, they took both their deer rifle and an AR with them. Just not worth the hassle for 40 acre piece of "shooter land" when we have 1400 managed on the other side of the river with no problems.

There’s no way I’d subject myself to that. I’d hunt elsewhere. This for sure

I had 420 acres off of CR1 for a few years.
Year #1 I had the power pole stolen... turned out it was the guy who leased deer rights from the previous lease holder & wasn't told he wouldn't be renewed until he came and found a new lock. No hard feelings, he just got what was his.
Year #2 I had a trail cam stolen that wasn't far from the property line and on a road that loggers travelled. My fault.
Year #3 I went to get MY power pole after deciding to let the lease go... only to find that IT was stolen after the power co disconnected it for me.
I had a camper within eye sight and less than 50 yards off of the road the entire time. Never as much as touched anything. Either I'm lucky, or it gets exaggerated.

How close to Willie Powell road? VERY Stay the hell away from there. That's the area where Shane Manley was murdered and also the bunch that murdered my son. With all the night hunting and trespassing there's not a deer down there worth the risk.

Dumb question, but if this area is this bad why or better yet how has something not been done about it. Because the sheriff department is in on it.

That's not far from where the two thugs shot a white kid off his motorcycle last year killing him just for s&%ts and giggles. Timber company guys don't go there alone and unarmed.

Good lord--I've been hunting there for 20 years and never had an issue. You will be fine. Deer population is excellent, and lots of turkeys too! Only major problem we've had is pigs and coyotes, both of which are in abundance. I found myself smack in the middle of a large sounder a few years ago on the ground, and shot two pigs from 10-15 feet with my rifle from a hip shot, and then watched with an empty rifle as the largest pig I've ever seen attacked one of the shot pigs about 20 feet away from me and tore it to pieces. I carry a .357 with me now at all times just for that occasion. Welcome to Wilcox County and good hunting!

Back in the 80’s my dad logged a lot of timber in Wilcox county. I don’t recall things being bad back then down there. Hate to hear it’s that bad now. And if the SO is on the take, then it’s never gonna get any better. Sad.
